Are quests available in Grizzly Hills, Dragonblight etc, or do you have do starting zones first?
I cant remember if you need to complete Howling ford and borean tundra before the quest givers pop in the higher level zones, anybody know?
They are available but as I recall the entire levels as you move in also go up in level so you might die a little until you can get some better gear (unless your gear is pretty high level already).
They didn’t do “choose any area” until much later.
I’m all s4 pvp gear on my mage and rogue, so I’m thinkin about skipping the starting zones which will be flooded with people and going to the next ones
You could try. Just be prepared for those levels to be a bit harder (and needing to run to them because the FPs are sort of linear in how you discover them.)
The zones/questing is level separated. They are not scaled.

its not gated if i recall, but the mobs are like 73-75? i dnt remember very well, but since ur a mage thats a lot of resisting, youll def lvl slower jumping over there. In a classic setting, skipping a zone will typically have you running out of quests. you would have to supplement with dungeon lvling at some point to make up 2 zones worth of exp that you essentially self nerfed.
There are outliers but generally,
Borean/Fjord quests require level 68
Dragonblight 71
Grizzly 72
Zul’Drak 74
Sholazar 75
Storm Peaks/Icecrown 77
Level requirements ARE set.
“Scaling” was a retail/Chromie thing later, if there was such a thing. I don’t play retail.
THIS is my rogue, I’m probly gonna level both but focusing on the rogue. I’m just sayin that with my gear I can 2 shot level 70 mobs, so why not grind/quest on level 72 mobs instead? thats what i’m thinkin about
Yes you can grind whatever you want, but you cannot quest past Borean/Fjord at 70.
You won’t be able to skip the starting zones, the quests are only available it higher levels
