Are pug raids bad?

Pugs erode traditional guild and social structures that are in many cases the basis of our most fond memories of early versions of World of Warcraft. Should pug raids be banned?

PUGS don’t erode anything, everyone knows guilds are better to do raids with but not everyone has the time, commitment or the social skills to join a guild so they PUG instead

PUGs are still a social environment. Sure it’s not a very healthy one because lots people don’t care about other players. You meet a lot more people PUGing than you do raiding with the same guild every week

I really REALLY wish GDKP people would actually come up with better arguments than “Black and White”

Because according to their logic, why make murder illegal if it won’t stop all death.

Or, well self-defense results in death, we should ban that too!

Like come on man, at least have reasonable arguements if you want to be taken seriously.

not in this sense.

i pug a lot of my content for 2 major reasons.

  1. guild doesn’t raid on days i am able to raid due to work schedule. there is no way for me to alter this without leaving and finding a guild with an open raid spot for me already and about 99% are just the same. raid when im off but still unable to raid due to other things or raid when im at work.

  2. my guild is dead; for example in classic a lot of the guilds that invite me usually don’t have a raid team formed at all. hence i got to pug. why? cause lots of people join the more popular guilds which has it’s benefits but for me i don’t care for guilds like that. been in many in retail and usually always the same. they got their little clicks they play with and rest of us are just like place holders. when i offer to run content nobody wants to join and only interaction i tend to have with these guilds are just raiding and thats it.

i think i interact with more pugs then anything because it’s more necessary

You can grab the top shelf with that reach…

Good god, why are we backtracking to the bargaining stage of grief?

Though I have to say, at least the forums are only 50% threads about GDKP now. Down from the 99% of a few days ago, that’s good progress!

Matching the reach that I am referencing so yes we agree.

What did he mean by this, chat?

I’m confused how this argument even makes sense to you? PUGs are like the first step of building those later communities lol

Lol wrong. I pug with my alts all the time. Its a good way to recruit for my guild and make new friends I otherwise wouldnt.

No, but we can just ban you and your garbage takes.

All I did was pug in vanilla. Quit forcing your memories on everyone else.

this sounds like areas of improvement, not something you design around.

I like pugs. Thats the only way I’ve raided so far. Done about 12 pugs and only had one ninja loot. Not bad.

I usually run with my guild, but when I do PUG, I’m always a +1 in another guild’s raid group.

So paradoxically, they can also end up reinforcing traditional guild and social structures still.

They are slowly tiring themselves out.

Soon they will all need an after tantrum nap and a nice sippy cup of apple juice, and we can all get back to other things

The Pug is a breed of dog originally from China, with physically distinctive features of a wrinkly, short-muzzled face, and curled tail. The breed has a fine, glossy coat that comes in a variety of colors, most often fawn, light brown or black, and a compact, square body with well developed and thick muscles all over the body.

I grab a pug raid when I can’t run with guildies.

The ones I’ve done have been very nice, with some cool people. They’ve mostly been guild runs filling slots.

10/10, would pug again.
