I’m a brand new player who started playing like 10 days ago. I’m omw to unlock Void Elves and I got full legion skinning while grinding rep for Uniting the Isles quest. And I got some collectibles there and I wonder if some of those equipments are still usable. I also sold artifact relics(they are safe to vendored, right?). Anyways, thanks for reading.
Professions from a previous expansion are useful while you’re leveling up in that expansion. Once you hit 50 & move on to Shadowlands, they’re not much use anymore. There might be some limited exceptions, but that’s been my experience.
I think engineering is the only profession where recipes from older content is still relevant. Goblin gliders, portable mailbox, and Jeeves will never not be useful.
I should have remembered Goblin Gliders, I just bought some a few days ago.
mmm depends, auto hammers, crafts for mats and mounts/pets and tmogs etc are all useful
Dont forget Tailoring bags.
There people who are completionists who are into LVLing up there professions for each expansion. So if you got past expansion mats you might be able to sell them (if there not soulbound) on the AH and make some gold, some may take longer then others. Raw mats like Skin’s, Ore, Herbs and Cloth should sell in that sense.
As for the Artifact relics yea there safe to just sell unless you want to make an enchanter and use them to disenchant to turn into raw mats to sell on the AH.
It largely depends on if you want to make gold or if you’re only looking for player power. There are a handful of older crafts that are worth getting if you plan on trying to make serious gold. But not having them won’t make or break you, and the number of older crafts that have any form of utility or function in the current expansion is very low.
If I wasn’t such a crappy artisan, I’d make an argument for Scribes. Making glyphs seems to be lucrative, and the ability to direct reputation has it’s uses too.
The ink chase, the completely foolish amount of recipes, and the effort may be a bit much (read time sink).
Sadly, the number of glyphs keeps going down each expansion. This expansion there are a total of 8 of them, and it took nearly a year to get those.
I just boosted a Hunter, Inscription worth a shot? My character race is Nightbourne lol!
I highly recommend ENG / Tailoring. I made so much gold from Sky Golem and bags!!! It’s very enjoyable combo as well.
Maybe engineering mailbox, but relevancy in Shadowlands is limited.
There are some sweet “twink” items to be made still, old leg enchants, buckles, shoulder enchants, uber enchants, but they’re barely limited for, at best, timewalks and leveling.
Engineering for Nitro Boost (belt), goblin glider, Jeeves (and Reeves), mailbox.
Inscription for glyphs
Alchemy for 2 hours flasks, but that’s always a thing.
Leatherwork for drums
Blacksmith for transmog
Enchanting if you’re making a “twink” for PvP
Jewelcrafting, LW, BS, Alchemy for mounts to sell
no just do the current expansion
Engineered portal toys. Get between different expansion zones in seconds without being a mage, paying for a mage portal, or doing the capital city shuffle.
wrath engineering is very useful still so is the ore and bars it takes to level. some old alchemy transmutes sale and alot of twink enchants and good
the mining seems fair at trade for digging ores but i keep war mode off. i don’t want violence.
In the game in general? Yes. You have your niche markets. But in Shadowlands, specifically? In my experience, no.
There are niche markets, of course. Some people enjoy leveling old professions and take full advantage of said markets. But no, professions from past expansions are not relevant in Shadowlands. That’s not to say they aren’t useful. Tailoring is great for bags, for example. But my Legion fishing experience has no bearing on my ability to fish in Shadowlands. My Cataclysm tailoring has no effect on Shadowlands tailoring. Burning Crusade cooking has nothing to do with Shadowlands cooking. etc. etc. etc.
Which is a bit of a shame. People spend time and/or gold leveling up their professions only for them to become irrelevant with each new expansion. They serve you good for two years then get tossed to the side.
With the mage tower back, yes old xpac proffs have become useful if not outright profitable
Dont forget the Item’s Like the Tol’Barad Tabard which ports you to Tol’Barad which has a POrtal to your factions main city (but i think has a 4 Hour cool down) there Jaina’s Locket which allows anyone to cast a Portal to Wrath Dalaran, The Legion Hearthstone, Rogue’s can get a Scroll of Teleportation in there Class hall to Ravenholdt, along with other Teleport and POrtal items which may be neice but can be VERY useful.
