Are Priests The Most Elitests?

Just trying to get a sense of how our elitest attitude is in comparison to the other healers. I know monk is basically that guy on the corner begging for change.

I think we’re probably… arriving in a limo-elite. Maybe paying for coffee with 100 dollar bills elitests.

Also what food do priests prefer? I think its important to eat alot of tomatoes if you tend to play games.

Well, *cough Monk is good right now after getting 10-20% damage buff, some healing and mana buff.
Probably, on par with Rdruid in terms of usefulness.

Yes, I think Priests can be the most elitist…especially if they are Disc priest main since you know, the hardest healer and all. But, we are not meta right now, so all the elitists are playing Shaman and Paladin.

I imagine that usually the FOTM classes are the most elitist, since the elitists tend to flock to those classes.

I’m not sure I’d call it elitest but the number of disgenic priests who called for Spirit Shell to be nerfed into uselessness for 9.1 so other healers could snipe us when CDs weren’t being planned was really something to watch.

10% of 900 dps is 90 dps.

The damage buff really isn’t doing that much for them.

They are doing 1.3k single target, 10% buff = 1.4k average
ttps://www.warcraftlogs.com/zone/rankings/26#boss=2405&class=Monk&spec=Mistweaver

And they got 20% AoE buff btw.

More Dps = more Healing for Fist weaving too.

If you compare the peak damage of each of the healers Monk are at 1.8k while every other healer is at 2.7k or higher, excluding Disc at 2.5k

10% isn’t enough considering how much effort actually goes into monk healing while dpsing while the other healers can basically vomit healing and still provide great damage if they feel like throwing out some burst spells.

A holy priests Holy Fire -> Chastise -> Mind Games is A LOT more damage than Thunder focus tea -> rising sun kick -> palm -> rsk -> palm x2 -> blackout kick in a much shorter window.

The buff is great, but it really isn’t enough.

I don’t personally count top 1 logs since they can be manipulated and only look at 95-90 percentiles. Disc is doing 1.5k and 1.8k if you count PI, MW is doing 1.3k.

Yes, the buff doesn’t bring MW to Paladin level of meta which will be doing 1.8k after nerf (Kyrian) but 10% dps = 10% more healing for MW.

And combined with the other buffs, they will be doing around Holy priest hps level and bring 1.4k dps

Priests are unique in that we have two heal specs and just like how a Mistweaver might call for nerfs to a Holy Paladin you sometimes get some spec jealousy between Holy/Disc.

But so far as elitism goes I’ve only really encountered that with the Disc community. It’s true that the spec is harder to play well than other healing specs and this causes some Disc players to have a sense of pride about the spec whenever someone says it’s not good or needs buffs.

For example, people often complain about how much harder Disc can be in less organized Mythic groups compared to other healers. Some will brush these criticisms off or even give the equivalent of “get guud” replies without considering that other healers who could handle the less organized group will benefit similarly in a more organized group. To me the situation appears to be more that when you’re in an very organized group where Disc’s weaknesses are less obvious they shine by virtue of their ability to contribute to DPS while doing the less intense healing and provide PI. This niche doesn’t mean that things couldn’t be done to address the skill floor of the spec but their pride in their skills makes distasteful to them.

You should read the monk forums. A lot of Mistweavers begging for buffs and then you’ll have a few elitist monks telling everyone to get good and that the spec is fine.

There are a couple vocal  on the priest forums that seem to think calling for disc to be repeatedly nerfed will land them Ion’s job. It’s funny how they all play holy now.

Idk if I would call that elitism or just willfully ignorant of the Blizzard policy of “Nerfs Only”

Those people get off to playing the least played and underpowered specs. I have a buddy who does it specifically so that he has something to blame when he screws up.

I would define them more as being hot headed pretentious teenagers oblivious to their own naivety

I think paladin is more classy than us

This made me lol. I didn’t think this was going where it went.

I used to play underpowered stuff if I thought it was interesting and because I wanted to make it look good by playing it well. This was usually in league of legends though.

These days I just play my monk/lock/priest and deal with it whether they are bad or good.

I never understood the “This is strong, you just need to get good” mentality. Even if you play a bad spec like a god it doesn’t make it good or better than other specs. It makes it playable.
