Are Noxxix guides reliable?

I was reading up today on some class guides and how to use the addon pawn, and found that noxxic has some pawn strings. But are these reliable?

All i know is that noxxic is so full of unreliable info i wouldnt trust anything on it. Just my opinion.

Generally speaking, I wouldn’t consider anything on Noxxic to be 100% credible. Maybe 70% credible. Whether pawn strings you find there are or are not will depend on whether they’re submitted by users or created by the proprietors.

Noxxic is still around? That place had a bad rep for a while. Maybe they have changed, personally I haven’t bothered with that site in years.

I like icy veins for info. They give a lot of options and why. They commonly say to not rely solely on their data and to test yourself based on playstyle.

Noxxic has been historically inaccurate. Like, wildly inaccurate in some cases. Icy-Veins has had occasional issues too (I’m thinking it was Ret Paladin had a wonky guide early in Legion?), but in general is a far better go-to guide to get started. You can generally find Discord Servers or dedicated websites for specific classes if you want to look in a bit more detail.

Simming yourself is also important when it comes to determining proper stat weights / if something is an upgrade or not because your CURRENT gear and talent setup has an effect on such things that guides won’t be able to tell you about. But we’re talking min-maxing here. If you just want a basic general guide use Icy-Veins.

Same idea for Pawn. It’s a good general tool, but it won’t be perfect. Every time you equip the thing it says is an upgrade based on the strings you feed it, those weights WILL change. It might not be enough to matter, but it’s something you can get more reliable info on by simming if you care that much.

Also important to realize that different stats will have different weights based on the type of fight. It’s not an all-encompassing thing.

Well OP the simple answer is…

No.

About as reliable as a blind uber driver.

Wowhead guides are better in most cases

They’re usually written by people who play the spec at a high level and are regarded as knowledgeable by the community. Many of them are leaders on their class discords

Tweaked that a bit.

I like this for the same reasons. They also state who the main contributors are for each specialization with a brief overview of what their contributions are (raiding/theorycrafting/etc). It is also less inundated with irrelevant and annoying ads. And they don’t just say: “use X” but say “X is better for AoE”, “Y is good for general solo play”, etc.

Last time I looked at Noxxic, which was a long time ago, I could tell at a glance that their information was really bad.

For pawn strings, for the most accurate results you should probably sim yourself. There are so many variables with stat weights that its hard to get a good picture if you don’t sim.

Well, that sounds like a good time.

I mean, depending on the death metal. It can be really hit or miss.

OP, the phrase “Noxxic is toxic” mean anything to you?

“Why did you turn left into that lake?”

:man_shrugging:

“It just felt like the right time to turn.”

I use Pawn, but every guide I’ve read has warned that it’s good for leveling but not so much for max-level min/maxing.

I also have never used Noxxic because I’ve never heard anything good about it. Icy Veins and Raidbots to sim is probably the best option.
