To those that have mages do you enjoy the class? Seems like it would be ridiculously squishy and not much fun in the world.
Mages are awesome. They’re only squishy if you don’t kite mobs.
Doesn’t kiting get old?
Real mages don’t fancy what they do…
…but IRL it’s definitely worth leveling a mage.
I have a few mage alts and I am sure if I put more effort into them I would enjoy them a lot more, but they are too different than the ones I am used to.
I miss the days of gathering and Aoeing everything into the ground.
I have like 4 mages sitting in the dusty end of the character lineup ranging from mid 50s to a single boosted 110. In the time it took me to get to the mid 50s on a mage I was in Pandaria on a warrior. They just feel so slow and so much downtime while leveling. Proc based spamming just isnt for me, I guess, and being squishy while running around hoping for a proc wore me out on the concept.
Im sure its better at higher levels but getting there killed it for me.

Mages are so OP, it’s a friggin joke. They’re supposed to be “glass cannons”, and instead, they’re iron-forged ballistic weapons of mass destruction.
Lots of offensive tools, lots of defensive tools. PLENTY fun to play, but I’m fine to admit they’re OP as hell.
Are you talking about pve or pvp?
I really enjoy my Frost mage and I don’t feel like they are terribly squishy. My mage has many abilities to slow enemy NPCs and has a nice shield that can stack with the Necklace shield. There are times I feel like my Elemental Shaman is more squishy then my mage.

I actually agree with you there. I think shaman are one of the squishiest classes in the game right now.

I’ve tried a lot of classes, but I always go back to my mages. Arcane is a mess, but fire and frost are both fun and have lots of utility available.
Fire has great mobility and burst and is super fun to use in current raid. Frost has always been fun in pvp. I’m not a huge fan of the azerite system, but the essences have made mages super powerful right now.
They may be squishy, but you get blink, ice block, shields, poly, and the ability to effectively kite that mitigates against that. And I can’t live without teleport now.
IMO no.
It’s my least favorite class and the worst to level. That being said, if you’re on some dumb hidden quest chain like Ba’al or picking up free t-shirts, it’s nice to have a Mage Alt that can just port everywhere rather than relying on a 15 min CD on your hearth.
of all classes i lvled mages are the worst they die fast
literally the only class i have extreme difficulty with. end up relegating them to AH duty. absolute last for me to level too.
i can’t even imagine trying to level them with all the mobs in najz. the mobs hit kinda hard, there’s no room to kite…
hats off to the mage mains who don’t have issue. i envy you for it
