There’s like 3 people throughout the whole year that visit the old neutral cities and that’s just cuz they got lost.
idk but they should.
Do we really need portals? The new Night Elf settlement isn’t a proper city, and the ancient dalaran portal drops us off close enough to Gilneas to make having bith redundant.
And the best alliance mage hangout is Exodar. The port in literally drops you on top of a vendor and directly between the AH and Bank.
I hope that we get teleport and portal spells to these cities some day!
Well. There’s the Dalaran Crater which is pretty much the same spot as Gilneas.
They should still make the portals tho
Has anyone noticed that you can’t teleport or make portals while in Gilneas City or is it just me?

In my head, what qualifies it as a “capital city” is when it has:
- Bank
- AH
- profession & class trainers
- connected to other capital cities.
We’ve had plenty of blue zones (shared horde & alliance) and those while they aren’t actual capitals of anything in terms of lore, they do serve the same purpose…
As of November, 2024, just a few months after the release of TWW, there are no World Portal Trainers in Bel’ameth for any mage, horde or alliance.
Bel’ameth has profession trainers and is not considered to be a “hub” city like Stormwind, Dornegal, Valdrakken or Orgrimmar.
There is a portal from Stormwind to Bel’ameth.
You can find it in the back room (as opposed to the main room) of the portal hub area in Stormwind.
I also found portals to Val’sharah, Darkshore and Mount Hyjal in Bel’ameth.
There are no portals for Horde direct from Orgrimmar to Bel’ameth.
You can use the indirect route via Mount Hyjal in the Cataclysm portal area (Orgrimmar) and then pick up the portal by the Stormwind portal in Mount Hyjal to get to Bel’ameth.
Once you get to Bel’ameth, as Horde, you cannot use the portal to get back to Mount Hyjal and you are given a debuff “Eyes of The Sentinels”.
(rp) Can’t really blame the folks in Bel’ameth after what happened in Darnassus.
My blood elf pally was not happy with the Horde Leader at that time.
At least in Bel’ameth they are not attacking me as a member of the Horde.
Once in Bel’ameth, the only way back to Orgrimmar is to use the flight path in Bel’ameth (neutral) or fly back to Valdrakken from Bel’ameth.
I just hope the cities we’ve created or returned to become relevant again. I’d love for quests at both Bel’Ameth and Gilneas going forward, upgraded with reasons to go back, visit, do quests, make a hearthstone or portal for etc etc.
I hope the same for other cities in Midnight or the future like a cleaned out/update Undercity, Silvermoon and Exodar as well.
