Are hunter pets smaller since Pre-Patch?

So, I’ve tamed a basilisk today and realized it’s quite tiny. I was expecting it to be about the same size as the basilisk mounts, but it’s less then half that size. Some time later I summoned an outland ravager. I’m pretty sure those were about as tall as my orc’s shoulders, but now it is slightly taller then the orc’s waist.

Did they make hunter pets smaller? Hunter is not my main character, so my memory can get a bit fuzzy with this, but I honestly think pets are smaller now.

I did some testing here.

The characters that tamed the basilisk as well as the ravager are lower level ones.

I have a max level hunter. I logged in the max level hunter and her pets looked normal. Tiger, turtle, dinosaurs, all looked like they did before. So I tamed a basilisk with her to check it. With her, the basilisk still looks a bit smaller then I was expecting, but noticeably bigger then the tiny gecko my troll tamed.

I believe the mount stays the same size for all races except the bigger ones like Tauren. So I mounted the basilisk mount on this max level character to compare it to the pet. The pet is about a heads size smaller then the mount. On the low level troll, however, the pet is about half the size of the mount or smaller.

So, I’m inclined to believe Beau might be right:

I’m gonna keep leveling this troll anyway, see if the pet grows when I reach level 50.

EDIT 2:

I got a friend to help me figure this out. I got a basilisk pet on level 50 and he got the same basilisk pet on level 10. The level 10 one is about half the size of the level 50 one. So I guess Beau was right!

I think pets in general are a little screwy right now, Hati seems much bigger than he was before, but those new pythons shrink to the size of a battle pet when you tame them lol.

To my knowledge when you first tame your pets when you’re a low level, your pets are actually quite small! And as you level up they grow in size - depending on what level your hunter got squished down to, it may have impacted your pets size at the moment.

Unsure about the pets growing thing. I agree with Jezbeka. I tamed a level 50 python from Vol’dun and it shrunk so much I look like I am throwing one of those toy rubber snakes at people. I tested by taming a cobra at a lower level and it actually grew quiet a bit. Most of my pets seem okay but I did notice Mammoths are very, very large looking in the stable pictures also.

Most of my pets have gotten smaller when tamed. I have heard complaints about oversize Hunter’s Pets blocking the view. It is a viable point.
