Are high tier M Plus Players Considered Superior?

I haven’t done M+ yet. But from reading the forums I got the impression that M+high tier level players are considered superior players to any lower level players. In some posts people come across as aggrandizing these M+++++ players as the best Wow players in existence. A breed apart from the lowly masses of peasants who play Wow. Sorry if this sounds like I’m painting M++++++ Players as Elitists Snobs and self proclaimed superior beings. But that’s how some of them come across in their own posts and are apparently seen as such by other people who look up to them. But what is the truth here?

So, whats up with that?

It’s called videogame tribalism, the idea that even in a game that offers many options, there is only one right way to play the game. Anybody who is playing differently from a tribalist’s personal idiosyncratic bucket list of what constitutes playing the game right is doing it wrong and needs to be stopped.

I guess you can check it out when you hit level 70. I haven’t met any players in keys that act or seem to act superior. Let us know what you see out there.

They all hang out on the forum and only pretend to be doing keys, eh?

I was talking about the Forums.

Yep that’s what I was referring to. So most of these M+ marvels are faking it in the forums? I almost got the impression that they were trying infer they were near professional competitive players.

I respect someone more if I am asking them for advice and they have experience doing the content I am asking them about. In a thread talking about strats or cd planning in some key I want to know the person does keys. I don’t like when someone who is doing lower keys than me tells me their opinions or guesses that obviously aren’t going to solve my issue. In a pet battle thread if I am asking for tips against some npc battle, I don’t care what M+ experience they have but I’d prefer them to have beaten that pet battle fight for example.

Keys are the easiest they have ever been. I wouldn’t take a great amount of pride in them honestly. That said, if someone is talking about keys on their account with like a few sub 10s I’m not surprised people get snarky with them.

I barely even see that here. Or are you talking about when people who don’t or barely engage in the content demand changes to it and are met with resistance from people who actually engage?

Don’t get me wrong, there’s def superiority complexes around here. But it’s from all sorts. I’d say from solo players the most, in my observation.

I read a lot of crossed wires on here when it comes to advice - asked and given. Some advice is good in [x bracket] or completely worthless in [y bracket]. While both are right, in their respective levels, it causes a lot of arguing in circles!

Idk, if I had to say someone does it the most, I’d say it’s higher/highish side M+ players.

Definitely comes from all over though.

Could be a matter of perspective.
But it’s def all over.

No but the devs obviously feel this way because they throw the best gear in the game at them, totally repeatable, no lockouts.

There is no other system in the game that rains down loot on us like M+ does.

No, M+ high rated players are not superiors.
Im just superiors because im a tank, and i dont have to interact with the unwashed masses that are DPS.

Depends on context and the subject of the conversation.

M+ players do not know it all

:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

M+ players that run high keys DO tend to know how to play the game better than most. Successfully running high keys requires good situational awareness and a thorough understanding of your character’s abilities. But, I don’t think many come on the forums with a superiority complex. I see far more complexes from those that don’t even run M+ yet talk about it like it has a tail.

Short answer: No.
Long answer: Some will try and present themselves as superior because they have a number but usually the ones that try and use their number size to demean another player are usually the type that are actually on the inferior side of the playerbase.

That said, take most things with a grain of salt, as even people with higher than average M+ ratings have been known to give misinformation or not actually knowing how things worked even in the realm of M+.

For some people the game is their identity. WoW is the only game they’re really playing and they probably don’t have that much to show for in life because they invest so much time in this hobby. So it’s just natural that these players measure the worth of other people and themselves in skill and M+ score. Pretending or bragging how easy the game is for them and how everybody who’s saying otherwise is just a loser and needs to get good is just for their own self-confidence.

Yeah, some of them are snobby, but don’t let it get to you. There are players like that in all categories. I’ve seen a lot of high rating (think 3000 io) mythic plus players who also get absolutely stomped in PVP. So from a PVP’ers perspective, they’re hot garbage who don’t know how to play their class. Then I’ve seen PVP’ers who have no idea what they’re doing in raids… like absolute braindead cause they don’t read up on any bosses or their mechanics etc. These sorts of people only act snobby at what they’re good at but are super bad at other things. They’re probably just looking for an ego boost, so ignore them.

I mean in a strictly technical sense yes, completing harder content in a video game is typically attributed to being better than those who have not.

Tbh the best wow players are the top 0.01% of Arena players.

I think top tier Arena is the absolute peak of skill in this game.
