Are goblins the most interesting race?

Most races trade on morals and culture, but the Goblins have at least an interesting vantage point in the world because the financial component of war is rarely emphasized in fantasy. In fact the only thing that comes to mind is the Iron Bank from GoT. And that made the story a lot more fun, imo, because they were both a rational actor and a wildcard. Where they saw the advantage, by whatever calculation they come up with, is where they go.

Post-Shadowlands, I think there should be a patch if not an expansion given to the resource wars that goblin cartels fuel.

Well, if/when we can venture to the Undermine - Goblins will remain interesting, but wont have their full potential explored.

I am sad their place got destroyed

I love the Goblin thematic and they are cute as heck.

I would love if Blizzard turned the spotlight on them. Instead of it always being about boring Humans and Orcs with a dash of elves sprinkled on top.

Interesting? They are the Ferengi of WoW.

Yeah… but they look so much better than the Ferengi… at least the female Goblins are rather cute.

You literally summarized every expansion.
Kudos.

Please no. Unless you are human, any race that that Blizz decides to center on gets their home blown up/melted/radiationized/etc. Heck our own starting area / capital got blown up by a dragon activating a volcano.

I’d rather get no attention when the only alternative is to become a giant punching bag for the devs.

Vulpera are better.
Similar culture, just has happy to kill you, just not evil.

That’s exactly how I feel about it.

Kids today … oy vey.

The Ferengi are the goblins of star trek. Just as the Vulcans are the elves of star trek, the Romulans are the Drow of star trek, the Klingons are the orcs of star trek, …

The repurposing of fantasy tropes didn’t start recently.

I do believe everyone knows this. Practically everything in this game and its inspirations is a Tolkien derivative.

I would just like to point out… the Klingons were originally inspired by the Soviets, as in the Original Series many of the episodes featuring them were critiques of the proxy wars between the West and the Soviets at the time.

It wasn’t until TNG that they were made more Alien, though this was very well retconned/explained in DS:9 and Enterprise, in my opinion.

I dont think you are giving lovecraft enough credit

Actually everything in this game and its inspirations came from Warhammer which Blizzard couldn’t get the license for.

For me the Goblins were cool and interesting in their starting zone. After that, they pretty much became a caricature or meme.

Nomadic scavengers are the same as greedy explosive experts?

Just plain false. They are a wolf in foxes clothing. This is why we need to take the alliances reins and purge the vulpera.

But… I thought the Horde liked Wolves.

They’re both salesmen out to make money.
Vulpera used to have camps that went boom until they made it more functional :frowning:

So far they have done nothing but help the Horde.
Lets wait until they do at least one bad thing first.

And I’m sure Warhammer took no inspiration from JRR Tolkien. Yes?
