I know on Chinese servers, the GM could easily ban any kind of ninja In GDKPs, including not vendering Or dischanting unsold items. I believe Bllizard has the codes. For gold ninja, the GM will distribute the gold to all raiders evenly through mails.
Just have more than 5 people reporting.
This didn’t even happen on Vanilla servers, let alone on a Classic mega-server.
I’m not condoning the behavior, just stating the repercussions of the behavior are pretty much non-existent.
Ninja looting was a huge deal on my medium pop Vanilla server, it would absolutely get you blacklisted by the majority of the server to the point where finding a group was impossible. When I started the players would even have to reroll because there were no name changes or transfers.
On my Classic (not really mega) server, you could get away with more but would you would still have a bad rep if what you did was bad enough. There was one guy on my server who was invited to a raid I was in and immediately the raid leader got spammed to remove him and he was removed almost immediately, he had a really bad rep overall. There was also a guy who ninjaed the ZG raptor mount and that was a huge deal. There are other examples too.
On most of the current mega servers of TBCC, yes you can you’ll get blasted but there are too many people to have half the pop refusing to group with you no matter what you do.
The majority of the people you know is not the same as the majority of the server population. Unless we’re talking Classic Era servers.
I was talking about Vanilla there specifically in like 2004/2005, not Classic, and not just people I know. The forums were the way people talked to each other. Ninja looting was a huge deal. People would even complain on those forums about how they couldn’t find groups anymore etc.
Although I will acknowledge that maybe it wasn’t that way on some servers. Medium pop was pretty small by todays standards.
I played Vanilla as well. And used the forums.
Blacklisting wasn’t any more effective then than it is now.
Like I said it was from what I saw then, but maybe your server was different. Anyway, this is off topic so whatever. “This didn’t even happen on Vanilla servers” is one of those absolute statements and those are pretty much always wrong.
Edit: I actually don’t want to downplay your experience either, this is probably what you’ve seen, but I just wanted to mention my perspective and something I’ve heard from others about the Vanilla days. If we are talking about now, especially on the current TBCC servers and this topic, yeah it doesn’t matter much.
Oh it definitely happens. I suppose it depends on the server, but you would never see another GDKP on Mankrik if you pulled something like this.
