Are flasks necessary for bwl progression?

My fury warrior gear leaves me at 3800 hp - flasking to 5k hp helps to survive a mechanic.

Its that simple

Umm, with raid buffs you’ll be at 5k anyway. Many of the squishies wont be that high. You don’t need that much unless you’re taking hits that you could have avoided.

If you’re at 3.8k with raid buffs, I’m afraid you should probably visit a repair vendor. And maybe instead of titans consider a flask of petrification and just afk the fight to save healers the mana lmao.

You do need to make sure you go in full consumables. World buffs, flasks etc. If you are wiping, Maybe BWL is not for you. Go back and farm MC. Shrug. Unless you are rocking an entire raid full of rank 14s, you just dont out gear this raid to ignore its mechanics.

How many raids have any, let alone a full raid of rank 14’s?

On my server, several Guilds have destroyed BWL. I am not aware of any of them being rank 14’s. I am also not aware of any of them making flasks mandatory.

While consumables, Ony Buff etc are perfectly fine to be required for raiding, flasks, and the inherent gold/time cost is total overkill for a raid that is far from cutting edge.

3.8k unbuffed - my gear is never below 70% - ever. Still having an extra 1200 hp as a dps doesnt hurt.

Apes was pretty much all R14

It doesn’t hurt, but but it’s a big ask to have people spend money on 2 flasks a night for progression. And it’s not necessary to clear the content easily.

Its not that big of an ask. Especially when so many guilds are having trouble on fights where that extra hp helps until they get some gear upgrades.

This isnt - must have a flask for every single raid from here out - this is during progression until we have it on farm.

I could see it for Naxx/Aq, not BWL. Which probably wont be a problem since I figure by the time AQ hits I should have thousands in the bank from simply running out of things to buy. Currently I’m blowing money on Lionheart helm, epics on 2 characters, enchants, etc etc
But we’ll have Bwl on farm for months before AQ comes out so I imagine most everyone will just ne stockpiling at that point.

Should make inflation kinda scary though right around phase 5/6 though

You are properly geared if you’ve done MC for any period of time and using regular consumes. DPS don’t take that much damage on boss fights, and the fights where they do are made trivial due to the high dps the raid should have. To each their own, but flasks are not necessary whatsover.

So
One?

At least one*

You’re right, it doesnt hurt. And it does give healers a little more time to give you a heal. It’s nice to have.

I’m only saying it doesn’t cross into need territory.

Flasks are not necessary in Classic, in fact consumables in general are not necessary. If nothing else the only time they become necessary is in later content like AQ and Naxx.

But are they helpful? Absolutely. If you’re sitting on a mountain of gold or time to farm the mats and want to have them then go for it, but if your guild requires it and you don’t want to bother with it then find a new guild. Those are your options.

100% its not needed the same as world buffs/other consumes - but to help guild progression we made them mandatory until its on farm - for our benefit. In exactly the same way as we didnt make pre bis mandatory for mc/ony - we wont require flasks until such time as id think 4 weeks worth of full clears. We also want to do bwl one night and mc/ony the other raid night - those who dont wish to partake in flasked bwl are still welcome to join for mc/ony.

Your guild is overestimating the difficulty of BWL. DPS using titans provides so little value that it’s a waste of gold. Supreme power is too much extra damage on some fights, and the raid should already have enough dps to easily clear.

If Vael was actually hard, it might be worth considering, but he should die in a minute or less. It’s a matter of people not pulling threat who shouldn’t and not blowing the raid up.

On firemaw, dps have 100% control if they live or die. You can’t stay out that long with fire debuffs anyway.

Maybe week one flasks isn’t too bad to learn the fights, but four weeks of flasking, lol.

Only on tanks, the rest need to realize that the “BIS” item with 0 stam on it isn’t always BIS.

then if you dont want to do your part in a commitment raid go pug BWL D:

I dont even know if 25% of our raid had consumables active during out BWL clear last week. Especially on Nef which was going to be the last pull of the night whether he died or not. Dude fell over dead easily.

Like someone else said. BWL is all mechanics, mechanics, mechanics.

There is always a cost, even if you manage to beat the bot army to a black lotus spawn there’s still the 100+ gold lost using that lotus yourself rather than selling it (or the flask).
