Are drakonids just a slave race?

They don’t seem to have any agency outside of serving the dragonflights.

They’re not just slaves. They’re also put down like animals if they dare step out of line. Ol Big Mom Energy won’t hesitate to sic her foreign mercenary thugs on any that are not overjoyed at her return after eons of neglect.

That’s kind of the whole point of the rebellions going on in Thaldraszus, yes.
I think there was something datamined a while ago about Alexstrasza meeting with the rebels? I haven’t seen it in-game though.

Essentially yes, seeing as they are without the aspects’ magic does make me think it’s for the best as horrible as that sounds. Tarasek are no better than scavengers or bandits even without the primalists recruiting them to join their cause.

They were uplifted to be loyal servants, yes.

Originally they were Tarasek, but they were altered in the same way the five dragonflights were, transforming them into what they are today.

They’re similar to say, the Stewards from Bastion and the servant races of the Shadowlands in general, in that they were created to serve their masters

Servitude is all they ever knew and so for the most part they gleefully spend their lives doing the Dragons’ laundry, and somehow the fact that they’re perfectly intelligent and sentient beings never drove them away from that servitude
The writing makes it sure not to give the Drakonids and Dragonspawns any valid reason to question the Dragons, who are such good guys wholeheartedly dedicated to protecting Azeroth, so why would they rebel right ???

Basically they’re slaves_but_it’s_okay_because_reasons which is an absurd but recurring WoW writing trope

I don’t see it.

People say “THEY’RE SLAVES AND LACK AGENCY” but in every instance we’re shown a drakonid just departing from their duties to do what they want, what they want to do is to murder dragons or join their enemies something, so of course we’re told to go kill 'em.

We never see drakonids just being like “I’m gonna hop on one of those boats and go see the world”. It’s always “DEATH TO THE ASPECTS, FIE ON THE TITANS”.

I wish we could play as one… Taraseks too.

The problem is that their preferred method of "stepping out of line’ is to go on a murder spree. You think they should just get a pass on that?

Okay, what’s your problem exactly?

These threads are seriously stupid

You’re on the story forum not general.

Yeah this game’s writing is a pure mess. Blizzard will happily make you kill uppity rebels who’s methods are just too violent, despite their cause being just. They’ll also make you kill slave races knowing that they’re slaves.

Heck, in Shadowlands, Blizzard would throw Stewards (some Stewarda killable) and Dredgers, both slave races, at you to kill with reckless abandon. There’s even an Ember Court event where you’re forced to feed Dredgers to Gorm.

Short answer - yes
Long answer - they actually like it.

Have you seen that one freakbeast drakonid with the Barrel Dumbells in Valdrakken?

Drakonids are too swolle to be slaves. Too huge to cooperate.

The dont have friends, only competition.

Why are you in a story forum, Eldenblade?

The lore use to also state that the Drakonid were once humanoid beigns that took in too much radiation from hanging around the power of the Dragonflights and were transformed.

I mean, I suppose it could be both – That’d be rather cool.

That’d be cool though. To have us be sent out to kill a renegade Drakonid from the leash of the aspects, only to find them fishing with a Tuskarr have the Tuskarr speak out against the killing before we do and speak out on behalf of them - Later revealing the Tuskarr knows of a few Drakonid & Dragon societies hidden from the aspects, monarchies of the dragonflights and even the Incarnates & Primalists, simply living life.

It’d be a good story questline & overall reference for Alexstrasza to be humbled by her own calling – The lifebinder. Preserving life – And being called out that the Drakonid are no less deserving of it than others.

No. They aren’t slaves. They can do whatever they want. There’s even a questline about Alexstrazsa reiterating that their will is their own and they’ll have a say in the future of the Dragon Isles.

Do you guys even play the game or what?

Is this questline even in the game yet? I know I saw it on the WoWhead but I’ve been running around Valdrakken for a while and I dont see any quests like that.
