Are disc priestst just not great for keys or..?

i am now down to doing one 10 a week to keep my vault going.
But i’m finding that if I join a key with a disc priest…it is more often than not going to result in mult. people dying throughout the run.

Was just in a CoT mythic and the people in the group lusted the wrong boss (they lusted Ix and Nx) even tho I asked them to lust the Coag boss b/c I KNEW that if we didnt the disc priest was gonna fail to get everyone back up after the second pulse.

Sure enough, we wiped on that boss with like 7 minutes left on the timer (which means key would not have timed, so /bye) .

I feel like this is the only healer this season that I just dont trust. I often see that they can’t get a group back up after everyone takes unavoidable dmg like at all …am I missing something or am I just playing with bad ones?

Disc is … the best healer right now? Highest skill cap.

You have FOTM rerolls thinking grass is greener.

Disc’s weakness is covering for mistakes. It takes practice to learn how to manage the extra load successfully.

If you are getting a second pulse on a +10 your group is doing a lot more wrong than the healer not healing enough and on the healing front it likely has more to do with what Deevax is saying where when players take a lot of random avoidable damage it makes it hard for disc to heal them.

CoT is the hardest dungeon to heal and if the tank and dps aren’t helping the healer out on bosses, they’re going to have big struggles. It’s easy to blame the healer for people dying, but that’s just not how the current M+ paradigm works: It takes a village.

Disc is definitely the meta healer right now for coordinated groups, however, at least personally I still believe disc is a horrible PUG healer. This problem is only getting worse with the increased amount of kicks required per pack, it and holy priests lack of kick are really felt now. Rsham is my preferred pug healer, solely due to the amount of utility to cover for mistakes. Disc needs help to truly shine, I still love it though.

i’ve seen high level Disc players say the exact same thing…it’s a class that requires quite a bit of coordination, and it can be very challenging for PUGS.

def try to team up with one or two people you know when doing keys, if possible.

Its a mix of FOTM and skill.

People see Disc is top healer and want to reroll to the best of the best classes without really knowing how to play them. You’ll see it with almost any FOTM changes in tank/healer.

The other issue is disc takes a lot of skill to be a proactive healer. Those that can do it fly through content. They know the mechanics, damage patterns, and when to use CDs.
The Disc Priests that really shine are those running with premades but that can be said about any class and role.

With PUGS you face challenges. people missing or overlapping kicks, missed or overlapped stuns, weird pulls, DPS and tanks that don’t use proper defensives etc. Its not always the case, some pug groups are awesome and rubs are smooth, some are not. Its a gamble

Disc has the most god mode overhealing in the game during entropic rift, but that’s on an 18 second cooldown, so it goes from overhealing to underhealing in a bit of an ebb and flow. If they waste mind blast + entropic rift on low damage part of a fight, then all the big damage happens, people will flop. It’s too much feast/famine.

You realize that you can lust Ix and Nx and have lust up again for Coag right?

I heard they’re one of the best to get if you already have a shaman. The reasons are because at higher key difficulties, the damage mitigation that Disc Priests provide goes farther than any heals a healer can dish out. When you’re dealing with average mobs that can smack your tank down in 3 hits with auto-attacks, dmg mitagation is the way to go. Also, the Disc Priests adds to DPS cuz they can heal as they DPS.

Disc always shines with higher coordination because damage mitigation will always beat raw healing however it comes about and taking little damage to no damage will allow greater focus for damage making a key even easier. This doesn’t even factor that disc priests can dish out a ton of damage too.

However as others aid their strength to cover mistakes is noticeably weaker than other healers and the gap becomes even wider if the disc is not skilled. I seen health bars not move x2 to x3 times as long for disc priests versus other healers. And mistakes by other players dogpile on a disc harder than other healers.

But yet as always a good disc player is really something.

Disc is strong IF the people they play with know what they’re doing and aren’t constantly taking unnecessary damage.

Discs biggest weakness is spot healing/catch up. If you don’t take a bunch of avoidable damage disc is actually pretty great
