Are dark iron dwarf "evil"?

I’m just curious. I don’t know anything about them and I don’t typically pay much attention to lore.

So…they evil?

Nah, they’re just a lot more crude than the rest of the alliance races

They have been through quite a bit and even before then they were supposed to be the gruffer of the 3 clans

Why would you think they were evil?

No. I’m Viking Santa.

If giving a kid an axe for winter veil is evil, I don’t want to be good.

No. They were enslaved by Ragnaros and his elementals and forced to do his bidding. They had bad blood with the other two clans but that has all been fixed after they were free. In Cata when Rag returned he did use the ones he dragged into the Elemental plane over the years as canonfodder. We killed most of them in the hyjal storyline.
There is a cult of Rag worshipers that are evil but the current leadership and people are just normal dwarves with leftover power from Rags enslavement.

Historically they’ve been the sketchier ones of the clans. They were usually a secretive shadowy people. And a few centuries ago they summoned Ragnaros so there’s that.

But they aren’t evil. They’ve had a rough past and like any society there’s good dwarves and bad ones. Some of them can be evil. Today most dark irons have moved past that. They’re total loyal members of the Alliance and have been repairing their relations with the other dwarf clans.

beards made of fire, worshiping ragnaros, trying to take over the other dwarven clans, possibly been enemy NPC’s in previous expansions, took anduin prisoner when he was a child, etc. etc.

OP says they don’t know anything about the lore, so they would have only known that first bit.

What would a fiery overlord do with a bunch of sweaty dwarves…I mean right…?

…Oh my god.

Oh god!

The Twilight’s Hammer cultists are evil. The majority of the Dark Iron clan who follow Moira are not.

Crotar, we’re more misunderstood than evil. Sure, it comes down to the individual, but as a people we’re not completely inclined toward evil ways.

Out of curiosity, what makes you think we might be? Mag’har and green orcs have a checkered past as far as lore goes, but I don’t think of the orc races as anything approaching evil.

For the record, I am a bit surprised we were sent to the Alliance and not given the chance to be neutral. Now I know, pandas kinda broke the mold as far as uncle Blizz is concerned, but it still would have been nice.

Dark Irons used to be evil in the majority though that has now diminished for the sake of making them a plausible Alliance Allied Race.

I don’t know about the wow lore, but in dungeons and dragons (this game is clearly based on D&D) they are an evil race that’s unplayable as a character.

Worse. They’re neutral. :unamused:

You joined the Alliance. You are evil in my book.

Wellll, that’s why we have three different clans  Pay no attention to those Ragnaros loving degenerates!

Now now, let’s not be hasty! Most of my syndicate has red backgrounds. Hopefully you can differentiate a real threat from an inconvenient faction line. I don’t carry water for the king or the old warchief.

Besides, the Alliance got the old forge working again while the Horde was busy hunting down its most famous war hero. Misplaced priorities from my point of view!

They were kinda evil but in a comical way.

Worshipping Ragnaros probably says enough about that.

But actually doing the quests and stuff doesn’t make them too bad even in classic. There’s literally a quest to steal thier pillows to disrupt their sleep.

So they’d finish as the more morally grey faction of dorfs.
