Are blood DK's actually good tanks?

I’d love to give blood DK a shot but how are they right now?

last I played one I weirdly felt like I had no self-healing at all compared to say a paladin or even a druid, are they still these unkillable vampiric HPS machines?

or am I better off just investing time in something else? Feels like DK’s been getting the shaft for a bit…

I’m not 20+ pusher or what have you, but I feel unstoppable. From an outside perspective I get from guildies is if you are good at blood it’s a joy to heal, but if you are bad it’s very obvious and keeps the healer on edge.

I’m evil myself, though I can’t speak for everyone

Any DK tank will say they’re not as good as they once were, but there as good now as they ever were. And if that makes no sense just blame the song I got that from dont blame me.

Its a very skill based class consume your resources incorrectly and you can get in trouble fast. Use them perfectly and you can maintain around 20k hps and basically never need heals

There is no in-between with blood, either you’re good, which means you’ll be amazing and will do great and will super easy to heal or you’re not good and it will be a horrible experience for everyone involved.

Blood dk’s are great! I’ve been having a blast with mine in m+. You should def give it a try! They get really strong with haste+4pc and CRW leggo.

They are unkillable vampiric HPS machines…once you get rolling. You are in danager on the pull when you have no bone shield or RP. But I’ve solo’d +20 bosses on tyrannical as blood.

Every tank is really strong right now. You should play what excites you the most and is the most fun to play.

You need to be a lot better tank to play blood than the other tank specs. It’s also extremely punishing to mistakes.

That being said, if you can play right you can do 30k hps on almost every pull.

I dunno man, feels like endless healing and tanking as a Blood DK. They dip low a lot, but instantly heal up. IMO my DK has more self heals than my pally. I like my pally because I can heal the entire group + have blessings which are clutch for people screwing up. IMO pally carries a group harder, but DK carries its self.

Blood is the bestest tank.

Blood dk is very good right now, even with the damage nerfs. Easily the tank with the most self sustain.

However, they are kinda demanding to play. I got all the portals last season on mine, but I definitely felt like the spike-ability was a problem. Like, this season I’m playing Druid and there are many pulls i do that I couldn’t do on my DK, I don’t think. I just finished DK 4 pc, so I’ll let you know.

I would play Blood if Bone Shield wasn’t pain in the butt to manage.

But hey, they solid.

Blood is a great tank, but I’d look into what play style you’d prefer because each class has its own gimmicks.

Let’s take prot warrior for example, alot of the warriors abilities revolve around HARD CDS like shield wall and last stand and their soft defensive being ignore pain.

Warriors are alot less forgiving on mistakes made vs blood dk’s. As a BDK there are still a lot of mechanics can still be cheesed with the help of AMS/AMZ and Deathstrike.

I love my blood death night and it takes a lot for me to die.

I switched her to that spec to tank elites and rares in the world especially when I was trying to do stuff in perdition hold. I mean it takes forever but I wasn’t squishy.

I have never raided beyond normal but I seem to do pretty well. Holding threat can be difficult at times. This expansion seems to have favored demon hunters a lot and during BFA and Legion I saw a lot more blood death knights.
