For phase 2 there are zero T1 pieces. It’s blues, pvp blues, and few epic rings from MC?
Tier 1 is pretty trash for most if not all classes
You need to understand that most “BIS” lists will rank this:
+20 spellpower
+1000 stamina
As a worse item than this:
+21 spellpower
False. With that much stamina, that would be BiS for a tank. Casters would not be against having that much stamina either especially for the implications in PvP.
Because, technically, it is- bis lists solely focus on how to put out the most damage or healing- which is fairly easy to to calculate because it’s literally just adding up the damage, and converting other relevant stats (crit, hit, etc…) into spell damage, healing, or AP/physical damage. (I don’t know how the tanking one does it admittedly).
They assume that you will be spamming mana pots, rage pots, thistle tea, demo/dark runes- because they’re generally made for people that need bis because they’re going for top parses/speed runs.
If you or your guild is NOT going for top parses/speedruns, then you don’t really need bis, and if bosses last long enough, you aren’t spamming consumes, etc… that ‘bis’ might not even be bis if you start worrying about dying from mechanics or running OOM.
I don’t know what list you’re looking at. The WoWhead one, at least for warriors, is fairly garbage.
No. They are generally incomplete, some are inaccurate and different people will need different pieces of gear depending on what else they already have. For obvious examples, almost no tank pre-raid BiS list has Shifting Cloak or Boots of Avoidance, and those are by a wide margin the best mitigation available from those slots.
Right? The wowhead warrior lists, both tank and dps, are horrible.
You put out more damage if you don’t get fragged because you’re a tissue paper btw.
Something else to consider is that some of things on it are BiS only when you have the rest of the list as well.
Wow… the sarcasm in 1000 stamina was so strong, yet you still couldn’t detect it…
What’s going to frag you in MC exactly? Shazz? Gr arcane prot pot. Domo? Gr shadow prot, gr fire prot. Luci? Resto pot. Rags? Gr fire prot.
Again- these lists are made generally by and for players looking to do top parses and speed runs, players that’ll spend 100-200g per week on MC consumes. You can easily get through an entire run without taking any damage as a caster simply by using the right potions and killing bosses fast. It’s a bit different for melee of course- but a lot of their bis/prebis has a fair bit of stam on it- and the really hardcore use titans, so even if it didn’t it won’t matter.
You should try to understand the value of each item individually to better understand bis lists as a whole.
They are filled with incorrect information. They are a list of individual ‘hard bis’ items.
But they only include information for min/max and nothing inbetween. Devilsaur leather on a warrior for example - in terms of pure dps and the gains for using it its the max stat gained from 2 pc, but there are many other alternatives that will also do roughly 1-3 dps lower and increased your survivability tenfold - this isnt included in a bis list.
Whats more helpful in a raid - 2 dps or the ability to survive a mechanic. Unless your part of the top 1% getting every single avail buff and killing bosses sub 30 seconds, those bis lists dont mean alot.
Healers being asked to stack only +healing greens because they are bis will run oom before its dead.
Gear you toon to a min amount of stats thats needed to clear the content - this isnt that high in MC.
Melee dps - 6-9% hit depending on weapon skill - and a mix of crit/ap/stam and survive the entire raid. You can gear for the ‘hard bis’ but things geddons bomb you wont survive.
Keep the minimal things covered and create a balanced set = as a warrior i have 6 gear sets for what i do.
Kinda a cop out. The players capable of doing top speed runs know why each item is “BIS”. They don’t need a list. All the lists serve to do is feed bad players false confidence, then they get two shot because they were too fail to avoid simple mechanics.
I’m just saying, by the time you are ready to actually use BIS lists, you don’t even need them. They serve no purpose existing. Like handing the keys to a super car to the kid who just got his license. We all know how that ends.
This is the reason why these lists are negative in a sense. When people expect players to have the pre bis and only pre bis items as a min to raid, players lose their ability to make decisions on how to gear themselves. It becomes a game of this is the only gear thats an upgrade instead of looking at all items and making a better choice.
An item that is 95% of the bis loot becomes useless in the eyes of the majority.
Definitely. MC at least has mageblade, something that requires rank 14 just to upgrade if you are just pvping.
They are quite literally best in slot- that’s pretty much all they are (at least, if they’re correct). I’m just explaining why they are BIS, and to whom- if you need more stamina in your raids, then that’s what you need, as you say if someone is dying in bis they’re not doing any damage, so some stam will help.
Raid guilds should be able to competently assess what their players are capable of.
Sorry, but im not losing the bonus stats from the Mantle of Prophecy for +2 extra healing on my priest because a list says so.
That’s the dumbest thing ever.

I have come SO close to creating a thread like this because the healer BiS lists, at least for Holy Palladin, have left me screaming at the screen at times.
They clearly feel +healing is important, but it’s to the point where an item with more +healing is therefore better than any other item. Even items with very little to no INT on them - take them for the +healing.
Which boots do you think are BiS for Holy Palladins:
a) +9 Int, +6 Stam, + 22 Healing
b) +16 Int, +5 stam, +10 FR, +18 Healing
c) +37 Healing, + 24 Nature Damage (no other stats)
It’s C!
