I tried queueing 1 time for AB on fresh and it was full alliance dreamscythe premade and my team had like 4 dudes in leveling greens still so it was one of those experiences that made it an amazing and fun game to play. Just curious if its always like that. Cant imagine a world where after 20 years Blizzard could create a system to put premades against premades :^).
They already tried, twice, and reverted it both times. Forcing queues just kills the game mode. They aren’t gonna do it again (knowing how dumb blizzard is they will…). What happens is premades don’t want to sit in a long queue so they just wargame against each other. Friend groups of 6+ stop queueing because the wait time isn’t worth it. Pugs start complainjng about their team not having enough healers/too many melee/not enough melee/etc. and start giving up “just let them 5 cap and go next”. They then stop queueing and the game mode dies until they revert it, but at that point the damage is done.
I haven’t done AB for a couple weekends now so I can only speak to my experience then. As an Alliance player I did come up against a premade now and again, but it was mostly rare. It seemed to be pug vs. pug.
Premades are just a part of the game, I would recommend you try any or all of the following:
- Find a group that you can form your own premades with so you’re on a more even playing field.
- If you encounter a premade, vary the time between your next queue. Try to let them go first so you can get in on another game.
- Take a break for a while and play something else. Come back later and to see if that premade group has gotten what they want and moved on to other things.
I get it man, being a solo in a match against a premade sucks, but that’s also just going to be a consequence of being a solo player. You don’t really expect to show up to a 40-man raid and solo it, do you? WoW is a game about forming groups to overcome challenges, and so it’s kind of counter-intuitive to punish groups for doing exactly what the game asks you to do.
People just looking to play an avg bg game where they dont have to deal with 15 nerds prepopped flask on discord ignoring their families and wives while they chow down on their big macs waiting for nodes to cap. Its a double edged sword on that one unfortunately, the BGS will die regardless of either outcome.
It’s mixed Q, sometimes I run into premades but most of the time I just see pugs… For AB the most I Q with is 5, this is fairly normal for most players on both sides because it keeps your Q times down.
If you full premade you can absolutely destroy the enemy team but the result is you kill Q’s and no one plays so its best to just play AB / WSG for fun and Q with 5 or less. Most of the time I just Solo Q because I have a great time no matter the class.
I had played that 1 AB game after a 1 1/2 month break from wow due to the honor being locked and no interest in raiding this go around. Players shouldnt be forced into having to find a premade though, its a 20 year old game that everyone pays 15$ to play monthly so theres absolutely NO excuse they cant generate a matchmaking system with the combination of Dreamscythe, Maladath and Nightslayer players to work with in the current pool. I get wow is a group game but I wouldnt want to be on the side who does the stomping either. Would be equally unhappy about the experience if I was premaded up with a bunch of horde players stomping on a bunch of alliance randoms.
I’ve spoken to the grouping issue, but you’ve kind of highlighted a separate issue. Do consumables, especially uncapped, have a place in PvP?
On the one hand, being “prepared” by farming a bunch of consumables to give you an advantage is a part of the game. On the other hand, that’s kind of undermined by the fact that people who are willing to buy gold have a pretty distinct advantage over people who don’t.
A thought I’ve often toyed with is separating PvE and PvP consumables into different categories with PvE consumables not being usable in Battlegrounds. PvP consumables come from the PvP vendor, increasing in power as you rank up, but come with limited stack sizes (ie, how the health and mana pots work). On any given game you would only get, say, 5 FAPs and that’s it, so use them how you will. This takes away from the whole “farm, prepare, overcome” model of WoW’s gameplay, but should that be a part of the PvE side of the game?
Something to think about, anyway.
You obviously miss the point entirely so ill discuss it with some others, this has gone way over your head about what my point was.
I’ve never been a fan of premade teams in battlegrounds… but I also realize that I’m not forced to find one.
But like, that’s the game, dude. If you don’t like it, why are you paying $15 a month to play it? I’m not sitting here trying to pretend it doesn’t suck to be a solo player sometimes, but when you choose to be a solo player you’re making that choice.
Sir, I think it is you who has missed the point there. I was expanding the discussion to include the idea of considering pug vs. premade separately from consumables. You kind of put the two of them together but they can really be considered separately.
If being a solo against a premade is a negative experience, so too is being a player who loses fights to others willing to spend a couple hundred gold worth of consumes to win every encounter.
I don’t premade anymore but I used to back in OG TBC and early WotLK. You’re absolutely right, it’s not fun to be a premade and stomp a pug… for most people, anyway. However, WoW is a game that makes you chase a reward, a reward that is more quickly attained by winning. Forming a group increases your odds of winning, whether you face a premade or a pug.
If you really want to dig deep on this, you really need to start considering whether or not PvP and rewards, especially power-based ones, should be linked. In Vanilla, if you took the honour grind out of the equation, do you think people would premade as much?
they haven’t died in 20 years. keep waiting ig
Lol I dont share my opinion on this matter alone, and I dont want to get into it with one of those delusional Blizzard White Knights. They wasted everyones time not going straight into TBC, people are going to be unhappy until Arenas are around again with the amazing classic wow PVP system
Completely separate issue because you can still stomp all over PuGs as a premade in TBC, but you’ll get no disagreement from me that Blizzard should have gone straight to TBC. Folks were asking for TBC, not for a time-compressed re-hash of the same game we can already access on Era right now.
I have no idea why Anniversary even exists. People seem to be digging it though, so…
You seem to have confused applying logic and reason to a topic as blindly defending Blizzard. Feel free to spend some time going through my post history, I’m no fan of Blizzard’s. They get a lot of stuff wrong. In this case though, it’s not a matter of defending Blizzard, it’s a matter of considering what the game’s design intent was, and whether or not that should remain.
Your issue with me is that I don’t unquestioningly agree with your position. If you want to throw a tantrum no problem, but my interest for you has expired. Find your own group or play around the premades. Either way, quit your crying
keep needing to rely on groups cause your individual skill isnt enough to outplay people without having 5v1 advantage. Would say see you in arenas but dont think youll make it passed 1500
You’ve completely lost the plot.
Those people tend to afk at the starting node regardless.
What blizzard should do is add MMR. then players will be put with enemies / allies of similar skill.
Pre / solo queue is not a good judge of skill - there are tons of trash players that end up in premades and god players that mostly solo queue.
The biggest issue in wow pvp is not premades, it is the fact that a huge % of players are afk, watching tv, and not playing the game. They just want to grind honor.
Yeah the matchmaking system overall is non existent, definitely agree MMR system would be super nice.
I solo most of my AB. Occasionally, if I do group, it’s only with a few other friends. I’m right there with you as a solo player… the difference between us is that I’m not crying about it.
I was asking if other people had the experience if all the games were like that and said blizzard is lazy about implementing a matchmaking system. Not sure how thats crying, its the White Knighting for a company that doesnt give half a crap about you that doesnt make sense to me.
To many premades.
Not enough honor for a win
Not enough honor for the kills
Not enough honor for turn ins when you’re vs 99% premades
