Okay so this is death expansion right. We should of had afterlife themed zone we got 3. Ardenweald doesn’t fit in the criteria of a something death related. It feels like a generic soulless Druid zone. We really should of explored the drust because they would of been a better covenant choice thematically of course some changes would be made but they are death druids. If you showed ardenweald to someone else and said that’s an afterlife I would of stared at you blankly
I agree it doesn’t make a lot of sense, but it makes about as much sense to me as any other afterlife story I’ve ever heard. Including most real world religions.
I do agree with your remark about the Drust. The Blighted Lands seemed have a lot of potential, but far as I’m aware, was only seen in that “Where’s Jaina” Pride of Kul Tiras line.
Arden is actually the most morbid imo… you see all this beauty, but in reality all those souls are just food to rebirth gods
…
Troll post or just general naivety?
The Ardenweald zone is modeled after Tir Na NoG, the winter queen is essentially less malevolent Mab. It couldn’t be more afterlife-y if they had beer for water.
Except it does.
An enchanted, mystical forest of rest and hibernation, Ardenweald is where Wild Gods and other spirits of nature travel upon death.
So yes, it is a realm of death.
It’s the afterlife, it can look many different ways.
This is a pet peeve of mine, so bear with me, because I need to get this out of my system for people. LOL It’s “should have” and “would have,” there is nothing in the English language that makes “should of” and “would of” make sense. Just because “should’ve” and “would’ve” sound similar, doesn’t make them the same.
Oh and paws up for ursoc
“not enough skulls” is usually a dk opinion
There are probably others.
I mean in Leigon, we saw a mini Valhalla and a mini Hel. neither of which are present in the shadowlands. Well, Helya does make a cameo in the intro scenario.
It makes sense to me Ardenweald and the Emerald Dream different sides of the same coin. So Ardenweald looking similar to that makes sense. I would’ve (thats for you Thallia) liked for the theme of Ardenweald to be more fall/winter instead of twilight because it would have balanced better with Elune’s spring/summer theme.
For me the vampire/ nercolord theme makes less sense.
They couldn’t very well make ALL the zones corpse/zombie-style death because that would get old extremely quickly. The Shadowlands would be made up of differently-tinted versions of Maxdraxxus and Eastern Plaguelands and maybe an Icecrown clone if you’re lucky.
It’s the same sort of problem they said they were trying to avoid with Northrend, where each zone couldn’t be a snowy zone because that’d be incredibly dull.
Not everything in Death has to be dark and spooky. Death is connected to and part of Life and Ardenweald showcases that, it’s all about rebirth and healing there. Which is another aspect of death. Every covenant realm represents something different, but all are shades of the same color.
No Wookiees?
Maldraxx represents decay with zombie themes, Reven represents undeath with vampire themes, Bastion represents spirituality with ghost themes, Adren represents the cycle of life with insect themes. It all checks out in some way. You want them all to just be recolors of Maldraxx? They’re pulling a bit out of their butt, but it isn’t the weirdest set of zones we’ve ever had. What don’t make sense is why Frostfire Ridge is a wasteland tundra 200 yards from nagrand and directly connected to Gorgrond. How the heck the environment change so much on a tiny island that only takes 3 minutes to fly across?
OP seems to be in a really bad mood today?
You do realize there are numerous real life examples of culture’s afterlives that literally are peaceful and beautiful places like Ardenweald right?..
Not every culture’s version of the afterlife is a hot topic nightmare
Most of SL doesn’t really make sense so I’m okay with the confusion.
All in all, I just think the entirety of the Shadowlands is just… not good. I don’t really like any of it that much, especially as an afterlife. But yeah, I kinda lowkey hate Ardenweald and the Night Fae.
Not really. The Shadowlands has various zones, makes sense. Ardenweald is connected to the living [emerald dream I think, don’t remember]. Rebirth can occur there but there is also a weird system that has ‘souls’ be directed there to help fuel the zone so [ya that’s pretty dark].
Their vision for the WoW Death realm is that there are numerous mini ‘worlds’ or realms. Makes sense to me.
The green in Maldraxus SHOULD OF been fell magic.
Thank you. This so needed to be said.
