Arclite Spanner

Requires Eng 50, and is needed to scrap out the mechs in Motherlode. Unfortunately, I can’t use it, because i have Zandalari engineering leveled, not basic old world. Fix this blizzard wtf u remade professions and didn’t see anything like this habbenng and didnt put some sort of spanner in zandalari eng? Devs? Devs? And yes, i just bought an army knife off the AH but thats 400 gold that shoudl have been invested in the skill leveling itself.

Getting to 50 Classic engineering is not hard at all. You can also make the Ultimate Gnomish Army Knife at the start of the WoD expansion.

Honestly, Engineering is the one profession that you NEED to go through older expansions in order to get it’s full value.

I have engineering on 3 characters 2 pre-bfa and 1 in bfa

For help on the easiest/cheapest way to level up professions
https://www.wow-professions.com/profession-leveling-guides

For some of the most useful pre-bfa recipes you will also need the Gyromatic Micro-Adjustor, which is crafted at classic eng 175

100% truth!!

Nitro boost belt enchant
moll-e
jeeves
goblin glider cloak enchant
flexweave (parachute) cloak enchant
goblin glider kits
thermal anvil
wormholes
transporters
mounts and pets
Reeves (legion wormholes and repair)
gunshoes
and others… all pre-bfa but still usable in bfa

no.
ive leveled eng on another character, and I DON’T need to level thru it again. They split the the profession into timelines, and didnt take into account that you needed devices from old timelines to do current content. That’s contrary to every other design philosophy they adhere to. There needs to be a current version of the spanner. Thats it. Period.

I thought the gnomish army knife counted as all tools including the arclight spanner?

it does, I believe, but it’s still not meeting OP’s requirement of being a BFA item.

I could see some logic in making core tools (maybe even the army knife) “omni-path”; you can learn it from someone in every expansion. (Which means in the end you can have 8 recipes for arclight spanner, with different mats for each! ) Or they could just use a vendor-purchaseable item, like blacksmith hammers or crystal vials. But it would lose some of the flavor =/

What might be better is to have a quest line in each expansion that lets you learn the tool recipes and make a set of tools at the same time. You only need to have one recipe for the spanner, but you don’t have to go back to an old expansion to learn it or use old mats to make it. Just use quest mats that they happen to have lying around, like in legion leatherworking. Of course, if you lose the tools you make from the quest, you have to go back and make your own with old mats, but just getting started you can just work with your initial trainer.

The main reason to be an engineer at all are the rocket belt, glider cloak, Jeeves, and auctioneer access. And three of those are old content.

The rest is mostly garbage.

I have 2 Engineers. 1 for Goblin eningeering and the second for Gnomish Eningeering. that way i can craft all of them with out the need to swap between them.
