This appears to be a disingenous take. I’ve seen a large number of reasons for not wanting a part of what will be an entirely different expansion brought into the game early. The reasons have been given from many different people and in some cases, well-written.
In my case, I could care less about ‘No-Changes’, what I do care about is players who are self-interested wanting conveniences that change a mmoRPG into an MMO (change your character anytime you want). I mean, why bother planning our build, talents, skills, gear, right? Let’s just log on and pick & choose different every day, that’ll be fun . . . (for about a week), then it isn’t. It ruins the game, it happens every time.

Gonna love it when the goalposts shift again after dual-spec is added and the next change is imminent. Copium is real.

Your argument is just ridiculous. The majority of the original game players wanted dual spec in TBC. The forums were flooded with threads asking for it 15 years ago just as they are now. Most of them quit in cata or later expansions but I’ve read a lot of threads with people explaining why they quit and why they came back for classic and not a single person claimed they quit because dual spec was added in wrath and no one said they came back because classic doesn’t have dual spec.

So you admit you didn’t play original TBC because it was 100% a thing. By Black Temple/Hyjal and definitely Sunwell people were stacking drums. I know because I f’ing respec’d my mage to LW with our other mage, warlock and elesham.

You don’t know what authentic means.

Your examples are the exact opposite and they aren’t preserving authenticity they are breaking it. The changes are as inauthentic to the experience as possible.

I don’t even have to make an argument when you’ve done it for me. Next time you’re only familiar with a word look up the definition before using it.

Kerg is just another of the changes I want are necessary and the changes you want are against the “spirit of the game” people. I can at least respect the no changers and their delusions. At least they’re consistent.

There’s not a doubt in my mind these same people are going to start labeling “Dual Spec” as authentic in the future and will then try to stand on some fake “principle” regarding the next change.

X: “I don’t want changes.”

Y: “But the game has changed.”

X: “Yeah, but those were necessary!”

Y: “They changed the game more…”

X: “Those were also necessary.”

Y: “They’re going to keep changing…”

X: “No, the OG must be preserved!!”

Y: “???”

And instead need to “fix” a version of the game that wasn’t made for them?

No duh, Sherlock. It’s not a TBC feature just like so many features currently in TBC Classic weren’t there but are here now.

Back in original TBC I got laughed at for playing fire destruction. “Why dont you just roll a Fire mage” they said. Now every single warlock I run into is sporting spellfire robes and spamming incinerates.

Imagine how ridiculous this game will be when you allow people to have two minmax specs. Its just letting the sweaty players sweat harder. If you want to fix the issue, reduce respec costs and lower the max respec cost. Dual spec is the wrong fix.

The current PvP and PvE metas were not a thing in original TBC. Everyone wasn’t pressured into respeccing to do Arena or raids back then. This is certainly not the case in 2021. Dual Spec is a necessary change to preserve authenticity by allowing players to play the game without constantly respeccing, just like they did back in original TBC.

Tinnitus was not a TBC feature.

Seal of Blood on Alliance Paladins was not a TBC feature.

Nice to see your opinions are completely arbitrary and not based on any rational thought process.

I don’t care what the hardcore players do. They’re a small fraction of the players. They got their changes with the chronoboon, the drum nerf and the paladin seals. Dual spec is a change that is useful for everyone but most of all the casual players that make up a majority of the players.

Anyway if the problem is hard core players in raids the fix is easy. Make it so you can only change specs in a major city and put dual spec on a cool down.

That just makes it clunkier than it needs to be. Just remove or lower the cost to respec, its all that needs to be done.

You don’t get to move the goalposts now after all this time. Vanilla was what was asked for, not TBC. You don’t get to retroactively claim all future releases of prior expansions under your “No-changes” umbrella.

That’s exactly what dual spec equals - mounts, boosts and all that other stuff because now you don’t have to spend gold to respec. Even if you had to visit a trainer it would be a complete mess. Everyone would be doing themselves a disservice to not have a “summon lock” alt parked at a pre determined trainer. Every person will now play the same spec in PvP and PVE and each will now have only 1 viable spec. It’s not a slippery slope, it’s a disaster on its own.
