Hey everyone! I can’t find the patch notes for today specifically the Archeology change that should now be live after today’s reset. The one where there’s bad luck protection for level 85 archeology items, that are 100% luck based in game that’s now viewed as competitive and is expedited. Thanks
Zinrokh, or any 85 epic was never intended to be reliably obtainable.
They are rng because they are as good as BIS tier 11 (359 ilvl), if you could just get raid weapons by digging only a few holes would that really be balanced?
i agree. Not every good item has to be “easy” to get. This is part of the “rpg magic” =D
I think you all are missing the point. No one asked for it to be “easy” to get. There should be a grind. However, there should be an expected end players can work towards.
There are no problems with mounts, cosmetics, or even titles being 100% based on luck. But when it comes to solo content items that influence player power it should never be 100% luck based.
The players aren’t looking to get the items handed to them. They’re looking for a way to confirm their work is paying off, and there’s no system in place that currently shows this as I know someone who is on their 900th solve with no staff, and also know someone who got it on their 4th dwarf solve after hitting 450. That’s the difference of almost 50 hours /played.
Think about that.
If you want to treat a 15 year old version of the game like it’s a competition that’s your choice.
huh? they aren’t even bis in t11
people are freaking out about something they will replace in a matter of weeks. For most player we are talking about a very small % performance increase. This will make no difference if you have it or not
Oh my bad, t11, pretty sure the dwarf staff is highly sought after.
Correct, it’s why quite a few people play the game actually. Because they’re competitive.
Believe it or not, but luck is a competitive skill that is usually overlooked because its not measurable and chaulked upto being something else.
I’m going to disagree on this. Here’s why.
Bad luck in itself cannot be a competitive skill. Luck by it’s definition is unpredictable and unreliable. You can’t consistently have bad luck any more than you can consistently have good luck.
And luck isn’t something you can develop through practice or training.
The only close argument is mindset when you’re being unlucky.
I agree that its completely out of peoples control and thats why its hated it competitive environment. A huge part because bad luck feels worse and is more prevalent than good luck.
Or more along the lines in that good luck is the bar which other luck is measured, so normal luck feels like bad luck.
Too many people are asking for bad luck protection when the already existing bad luck protection isn’t working. Get all the rare items available again so we can start getting rid of dig sites.
Raid gear has always been luck based, I killed lord marrowgar over 27 times this phase, and have never once seen a pair of Frostbitten Fur Boots, Normal or heroic. Our guild saw over 11 glaives while some guilds never saw a single one.
You can’t even USE a lvl 85 epic right now, demanding that the game be hotfixed so you can stop being a cleptomaniac about gear that’s not even relevant yet is somewhat of an insane request.
It’s not an insane request if it got broken during a previous hotfix. We’re just asking for a second, correct hotfix.
another episode of a forum poster using words they don’t know the meaning of
Its actually the most correct usage, digging up other races artifacts that you can’t use in the hopes of beating trash mobs with it is peak British Museum territory.
I agree with this statement. This isn’t raid gear though. It’s solo content. I said that in my original post.
Player power for solo content should never be 100% luck based. Some luck? Sure. A grind? Absolutely. 100% luck, though? No.
Fully agreed. One of the fatal flaws of the WoW design.
