So, Spoiler alert: Don’t read below if you want no SL spoilers
It appears, through data mining and such, that we will be trading Malfurion for Ysera. This is disappointing because Malfurion is basically God-Tier and has a lot of history. It’s also a disappointment, to me at least, because it means that the SL dumpsterfire is keeping some relevence to the progressing story. It was my hope that we would just be cutting the cord on this travestry, but alas that is not the case.
But there is a silver lining.
I believe this will leave Archdruid Hamuul Runetotem as the new leader of Azeroth’s druids, and as everyone knows Tauren are just the best at everything. Hamuul himself was char-broiled into a skeleton during the Cataclysm, from which state he wolverine-style-regenerated without even a single scar. Truly he is the greatest of us all.
Tauren will, as of prepatch, be able to chose any class besides Demon Hunter and Warlock, meaning Tauren Archmages will certainly be appearing in game soon and likely supplanting frauds such as all those elves and humans and taking their rightful place as leaders of the Kirin-Tor. Tauren RMP’s will be dominating in arena, and as Tauren remain the one race in the game that Danuser hasn’t destroyed the lore for yet we still have the richest and most RPG friendly backstory in the game, mostly free of retcons and “recontextualizations.”
I for one look forward for the Tauren led age of peace and prosperity that Azeroth will face in the coming years, and view the ascendance of Hamuul Runetotem as a wonderful first step in our rise to power.
