What is up with Archaeology? It seems like it’s a secondary profession that’s just gone by the wayside. It really would fit in with the last couple expansions due to us going with the explorer’s league and discovering new territories… seems like it needs a rework to bring it up to current content instead of just being abandoned at Battle for Azeroth…
Bad design is bad. They seemed to try to revive it with Blunderstorm but now we are left with Snivelling… If they weren’t totally lazy they would just excise it entirely from the game. But they are, as well as dementedly obtuse.
I really wish they would add it to to the new places.
I like doing archeology.
They initially had much greater plans for it but nerfed it just before it went live back in the day. What they left us with was a tedious grind for very little reward. As someone who studies archaeology and lost cultures in real life, I was super excited for it here. But as usual with “modern” Blizzard, we got a good idea with terrible implementation.
They abandoned it in SL. Even though it would have fit extremely well in SL, DF, and TWW. Kinda a shame, I get why they got rid of it, it’s sort of boring and not many people did it. I still kind of like it personally, it’s an easy thing to do when you just want to chill out and not pay much attention to the game. I think if they just made the dig sites smaller so you spent less time wandering around more people would like it.
The real issue is, as with fishing, they took something fun in real life (if you’re into this sort of thing) and found a way to remove said fun, turning it into a tedious grind. And we all know Hazzikostas loves tedious grinds. Disappointing but should not surprise anyone.
It was good content drought content.
Long slow grinds that you chip away at are.
But probably had bad engagement and if they have any sort of social or KPI metric based on engagement, no one will wont to work on it. “Ha Ha, you got assigned to archeology?”
I can’t wait for my racial to be updated … I don’t want to be good at a dead profession …
