People complain that Black Morass is awful, but I find it pretty easy. Hell, even Magistrates Terrance is fairly easy.
But Arcatraz?
OH LORD NELLY, is this not hell to go through.
Like: the difficulty spike is INSANE, adds have TERRIBLE tether and are often bunched together. The fleshbeasts can easily reduce your stats, Deathwalkers NEED to be burned down, but the first boss can knock you into other adds. There’s also hidden worms and those DAMN SENTRIES KEEP losing aggro from me for SOME inane reason, even AFTER I taunt them.
And then those Voidwalkers - actually they’re… Ok?
BUT THEN THE TWO SECONDARY BOSSES:
Those darn sisters who are invisible and just, WHAP
THat’s a stun or a charm on top of other adds if you aren’t careful.
And then…
The Skyriss room, the last challenge:
Pull an abyssal and you don’t stack for meteor.
ONE, SHOT.
That’s not clearly labeled as a stack mechanic for those unaware of it. And those satyrs with their STUN shots and roots…
Worst, BC Timewalking Dungeon, period.

That’s like saying Dark souls is the worst game ever.
Some old mechanics and cc are annoying, but that’s it.
Meanwhile you have black morass which 80% of the map serves no purpose but gives a forest vibe. And all you do is wait for mobs and boss to spawn and run around the 3 points. It’s plain boring design. Every time people end up rolling this dungeon want to quit and requeue. You can’t speed up the process, you can’t go too far from medivh to explore the other 80% of the map.
Now that’s the worst dungeon, not just in BC, but in wow.

As soon as I see the tank prance away past the archers I know I’ll have a horrible time.

Arcatraz is the Occulus of TBC.
You always knew you were gonna have a bad time if at least one of the group members was new to the dungeon.

This spoke directly to my soul.

Just say you don’t like dungeons with mechanics.

Having done it 5x this week Im kinda over it but it is an enjoyable dungeon.
Black Morass sucks cause boring AF.
I say this as my wife judges me as she likes Black Morass.
It’s the hardest, but it was possibly also the hardest of the OG TBC dungeons (not counting post-launch ones), so I like having it included.
Burning Crusade Dungeons were very hard. There was crowd control on every pull and on multiple targets. I really liked saving Millhouse Manastorm at the end

Haha isn’t that the truth. They run past the archers, they go into the next room and “AE” pull. Then things tend to go sideways and after the wipe they leave the group.
You can definitely see the difference in design philosophy from then and now.
The thing is, I did not find TBC dungeons all that hard when I did them back when they were new, and yet this week I found those dungeons to be very difficult.
Either my expectations have been warped over the interval by the modern design, or stuff hits way harder now because of some kind of scaling, etc.

Shattered Halls heroic was the hardest in TBC.
People these expect to be able to chain pull group to group with no consideration of CC. You don’t even have to CC any of the timewalking dungeons these days to clear them. So it’s not an issue with scaling. It seems like an issue with people not knowing mechanics of mobs and bosses of yester year and getting frustrated by it.

You spelled Magisters Terrace wrong though I suppose if you meant release dungeons then sure.
To explain: No, I do NOT hate mechanics to respond to some people, if somehow people got that idea, then that’s not my problem.
I freaking love mechanics at times, and Black Morass is something that keeps me on my toes. I raid, I do dungeons, and I even solo content at times.
But Arcatraz is HELLA annoying when everything is just… Gah. It is NOT like any other BC dungeon, and it’s not even a Catacylsm dungeon.
It’s just annoying.
Success in the older TW dungeons really boil down to if your party is willing to listen to warnings about mechanics or try to run through and mindlessly blow it up. Less of a flaw with the dungeons and more with players thinking it’ll be like outdoor questing where you can just faceroll and plow through.
I hate Arcatraz for having so much trash mob but I don’t think it is that hard. Magister on the other hand is just a bad pull away from a wipe!
And then regardless of that and even if everyone knew what they were doing the tank would still have a bad time lol.
Every pack is just a massive mess of aggro drops, stuns, disarms, disorients, and MCs. It such an annoying dungeon to tank lol.

From what I remember, Arcatraz was the most hated dungeon back in TBC as well. Shattered Halls could be up there if you didn’t have a paladin tank but I think Arcatraz topped the list. Black Morass was actually one of the smoother ones, if you had a DPS dedicated to handling the adds. I once had a group with a shaman tank for it; it was pretty neat.
I think the only thing keeping Magisters’ Keep from being the worst was the fact that it had the best 5-man gear, so the carrot was big enough to offset how much of a pain it could be.
dungeons like arcatraz is why i love doing timewalk, i like sitting back watching new players struggle to figure out the mechanics
