During the original WOTLK release, during the Halloween event, people ran Kara to get the Arcanite Ripper. It was a huge community event, not limited to just pre-patch. Will blizzard put the ripper back into the loot tables during the Halloween event? Please blue post reply.

Yeah, exactly, and if you want a better chance of snagging it at a lower price just shoot an alt that can use it over to a backwater realm and be patient.

Black Market Auction House. Unobtainable items from the game can appear in it and players bid on them. Arcanite Ripper probably goes up to a couple millions of gold.
Black Market Auction House. A batch of stuff is listed every morning at 2:30 AM EST and they’ll expire around 8-11 PM EST that day, during which people can bid on them.
Currently here, but it moves each expansion and the old one becomes inactive.

It had nothing to do with Halloween. It was just part of prepatch.
The item originally dropped from Tenris Mirkbloodin Karazhan during the Zombie Infestation pre-WotLK event. It was removed from Tenris’s loot table 2 weeks after the start, after which it was unavailable until the introduction of the Black Market Auction House with patch 5.0.4.
