Is it worth it to try and farm mats for the arcanite reaper as a fresh 60 on era when the servers are fully progressed and I may be able to obtain a comparable weapon another way? And if so what would that alternate way be? 
just run bwl and molten core until u get a good 2h or any raid for that matter on era pre rais bis isnt worth getting cuz u get raid gear so easily

pretty sure even ZG weapons are better than that
unfortunately outside of some kind of RP statement, it isn’t worth it

The 2H quest reward from Silithus (requires you to kill a boss in ZG and another in AQ20) is much easier to get, and better for a non-orc.
For orcs who raid without world buffs, arcanite reaper has a niche. I used one in SoM.

Arcanite reaper is one of the most nostalgic things for me in vanilla. Still remember when the first guy got one made at 2004 launch on Illidan. A gnome warrior with green hair demolishing people in duels

If you have been playing Era, I would expect you to know that the beauty of the game is your ability to set your own goals and take on projects that are only meaningful to yourself. Working toward a Reaper seems like a worthy effort to me.
