It will be the worst spec in the game after these buffs. DEAD. LAST. And they won’t do a damn thing. WHY is frost being buffed but arcane is getting NOTHING, when it is third last on Warcraft logs? Are you KIDDING me? What the hell is this?
Because Frost is in the last two spots in the logs in the current raid ?
Yup, Arcane barely above frost in the logs but now Frost is going to rocket past it and Arcane gets left… again.
With all due respect, a 9% buff to weak spells like frostbolt is not going to do much.
Arcane is 200 dps above frost on WCL… TWO HUNDRED
And we got NOTHING. We will be literally LAST, the worst spec in the ENTIRE game after these buffs
It’s a flat 9% damage buff across the board. That is indeed going to put into a much more middle ground spot than before. It’s certainly not going to make it in the top 3 but it is still substantial.
Normal: Frost will be ~3% ahead of fire at 75 percentile on average.
Heroic: Frost will be on par with fire at 75 percentile on average.
Mythic: People still gunna play fire, frost will probably be a bit below fire still but that band will be tighter.
Data: WCL DPS/ilvl scaling for mage.
Arcane is 100% the lagger now. Huzzah, we can all listen to arcane players whine away now.
Can you please stop trolling with meaningless sim math that demonstrably does not reflect the reality of the game? You’ve been at this for like 2 days, it’s annoying.
Thats literally all warcraft logs data… o.O
Oh, actually, you’re right, I may have mixed you up with someone else. Apologies.
All 12 of us!
I’ve talked about sim data too, probably am who you think i am.

Anyway, this is heroic dps/ilvl. The spread is ~8% from fire. 9% buff will raise that line to roughly in line with fire. And anything where mobility doesn’t matter or theres enough cleave, frost will probably be beating out fire at the 75th percentile.
Eg. Normal where the spread is around ~6%.
At the upper end 90+ percentile, fire will probably still be beating out frost.
Bottomline frost will be more competitive if they go through with it
Well I am officially concerned about the perception of Arcane.
Unfortunately, I am with you on this one Mythlos. We are simply just screwed.
All this bad talk about Arcane, and I. As an M+ Arcane Mage doing regluarly over 5k+ Dps (Overall) in dungeons, and 10k+ AoE. Find it hard to believe we are the Worst spec.
Especially considering I am always #1 in damage, and Arcane play is smooth…
Are we the worst spec… in raids, perhaps?.. In PvP? Definitely not in the game. Even in PvP, I have enough burst to 100-0 a Target in 4 seconds (4 globals).
Why are we the worst? I didn’t get the memo. I keep getting yelled at to go Fire, while still being top damage. -confused-
Something to do with being low on raid logs - and now that frost will be above arcane its time to QQ about arcane apparently
I am struggling to come up with even 10 characters, lol. You answered your own question. And yes, in case it wasn’t obvious, it is a rather big issue for those of us who actually want to raid. I understand it’s only one aspect of the game but it is by far the most iconic and popular one. I don’t PvP and I also don’t want to do nothing but M+ all week especially when M+ loot cannot be targeted and we have already reached the point where you can only get upgrades via one or maybe two of the great vault slots and not by doing the actual content.
Well I am glad you are competent Arcane mage player. I do not want give myself that own title but I will let my WoW logs and raider score as an Arcane mage player speak for itself. I also typically outperform everyone that I play with, but if you were to take my exact play and put it into a fire or frost mage now… you are 100% going to do more damage as the other specs now. For pvp yes, it is easy to burst but if they have immunities or are interrupted, your burst is effectively mute. Not saying that you can’t be very good in pvp with it but it struggles much more than fire in pvp. Arcane has a high ceiling that it can reach to, but that doesn’t mean that the spec at a base level is performing where it should. This just means that only if you play at a 99% parse, you are beating other specs and even then, if they are also playing at a 99% parse, you are not beating them. You just are simply playing the class well with people who aren’t playing their class well. Don’t let your own stats fool you.
I am Frost but I truly respect your opinion.
We will see how this play out.
I am genuinely starting to feel like I will not be able to raid competitively at all, even at the heroic level, this raid tier and probably the entire expansion going off of what we’ve seen (or haven’t) so far.
