I’m obsessed with the Tome trinket and I’ve found the more “ticks” I can keep active the more it procs. A lot of the other items (ring and neck piece) trigger off fire spells and I am finding arcane has very few of them. So starting to think about going fire spec just to get max ups on Tome. I’ve never played fire. So is this an easy transition? Or just stay arcane and press on? Also is stat priority still mastery? Or do I adjust gear there? I guess I could read a guide or two.
Oh wait, does fire have anything like NT that is a “tick” I can keep active all the time?
Mastery is one of the worse stats for fire, youll want haste and crit.
Fire isnt hard to learn sitting at the target dummies. The rotation is pretty straight forward.
I personally found i got destroyed in keys and did considerably less damage as fire. Learning the rotation is one thing, knowing how to execute it in a dungeon is more tricky.
Id stay arcane if you pug and dont have optimal gear for fire. You’ll need tanks pulling big around your cds if you want to do more damage than arcane.
The helm enchant from last seasons is fire damage, as well as the lining in the crafted wrists. Those should help with procs.

Well Dang it. I think I’ll stick with it. Hope I can juice this trinket to max effect. I have found that keeping dots up makes a big difference. And I proc at least once or as many as ten times per combat. My dream is to push it until it tops my damage meter.
I REALLY want to see it paired with rage feather. But maybe that is as low a proc rate as heart anyway, so would be about the same.
This is not entirely true. For a while now stacking crit on gear has not actually been a priority for Fire because it gets a lot of crit from talents, so that crit from gear pretty quickly hits diminishing returns. That changed a little in S3 because the set bonuses encouraged as much crit as possible, but now that we’ve gone back to a version of the S2 bonuses crit from gear has become less important once again.
Haste probably is Fire’s best gear driven secondary, but it’s all relative. I personally don’t usually worry about it too much early in the season when gear is in flux. Once I get to more of a steady state I’ll sim myself and adjust gems, enchants, etc as needed.
Anyway, to answer OPs question, I’ve not seen any sims or anything that puts Tome near the top of Fire’s list. It’s not a bad trinket for Fire but there are better, most of which are purchasable with bullion. The other trinket from AV (Fractured Heart) is great for Fire but not as showy of course.
