Arcane Surge and Dark Simulacrum

Trying to figure out if stealing Arcane Surge actually increases DK magic numbers. Hard to tell with Details because there are so many modifiers at play.

Anyone know the answer?

Only way to know is to test it and confirm it on your own dude. Pretty cool idea you got going on there.

Basically a long time ago, in pve, certain classes with too many generic damage modifiers (sub, unholy, arms, arcane were kings and queens of this) were abusing strong trinkets and item procs to do insane damage (Throwback to arcane mages killing mythic bosses in 12 seconds, or sub rogues soloing world bosses in a single shadow dance). Blizzard changed ALL “do % more damage” effects into a whitelist system. So your tooltip says “hey do 20% more damage” but in reality, the game is going “yo, make these specific spells, and nothing else, do 20% more damage”

So no, Arcane Surge does not affect any of your damage, because you don’t have any mage spells
visual aid (These are what arcane surge amps, it does not actually generically improve damage):

i mean technically speaking, it should never work even back in the goofy ages

DKs don’t cast spells, there’s a few abilities that are considered spells (thus vulnerable to silences) but their damage (if they deal any) is derived from attack power.

this is the part where someone responds with nerd emoji (and gets banned from my birthday party (which will have very good cake))
