Arcane rotation

Hi there,
I’m looking for some guidance or tips on my arcane rotation. I’m sitting at 186 ilvl and normally burst around 5-8k and sustain around 3-3.5k on a boss fight with minimal movement or switching of targets. I’ve looked up a few rotation videos and guides but I want to make sure I’m getting the max dps I can out of the rotation. I am open to any and all constructive criticism. Talent setup is:

15 Amplification
25 Shimmer
30 Rune of Power
35 Resonance
40 Chrono shift
45 Arcane orb
50 Enlightened

Here is my standard mythic dungeon boss fight rotation:

Opener:

  1. Time warp
  2. Touch of the magi
  3. DPS macro
  • Arcane Power
  • Troll racial Berserking
  • Mirror Images
  1. Arcane missiles (with or without clear casting) until ToTm expires
  2. Presence of mind
  3. Rune of Power
  4. Arcane orb
  5. Arcane blast + using any clear casting procs until 15% mana (includes using mana gem when around 20% mana)
  6. Evocation until 85% mana
  7. Night fae shifting power ability

When on cooldown (conserve phase):

  1. Arcane blast till 4 charges
  2. arcane barrage
  3. Arcane orb on cooldown
  4. Consuming any clearcasting procs

When Touch of the magi and rune of power are off cooldown:

  1. Rune of power
  2. Touch of the magi
  3. Arcane missiles with or without CC until ToTm ends.

I can pull okay dps with this rotation but I would really like to know if and where I’m going wrong as I only picked up mage this expansion.

Just a heads up mirror images aren’t a dps cd, during there total duration they hit for the same damage as a fireball

That’s a fine rotation, I would remove mirror image from that! The only other thing people seem to be doing now is changing their opener with: pre-cast AB, RoP, spam AB until RoP and holding onto CC AM, then moving into your burn with the remaining mana, ToTM, and AP using your CC AM. (In either rotation you want to use a mana gem to make your burn last longer).

Pre-cast that during the pull timer, it is 100% not worth using a GCD for during your opener.

I don’t think there’s a need for that. I believe squeezing your PoM ABs into the dying seconds of Arcane Power net more damage than throwing out an orb. (Could be wrong here)

If you’re on a single target boss, change Resonance for Arcane Echo, and use Overpowered instead of Enlightened.
