I don’t know if it was sped up or if this is how it’s meant to be, but no matter what button you press, you never shoot down the orbs before they hit. I get farther in the quest by keysmashing all three buttons than by any attempt at targeting.
Keysmashing will make you fail quicker. Any time you push a direction and don’t shoot something down, it takes about as much “energy” away as letting something hit.
Let them get in closer, then shoot them. About half-way in should be sufficient. Unfortunately latency makes this (and other WQs in the zone) harder than it should otherwise be.
There’s virtually no time between the orbs appearing and them hitting. Every time I tried to go slowly and aim, I failed in a matter of seconds. Keysmashing let me last almost a minute.
Presumably it’s a combination of latency and poor design.
So, I tried this a handful of times, and one time it even seemed like I got to the end…then it just booted me out of the game with no finishing text from the arcane ghost NPC, who usually gloats. Whether or not I hit the energy bits seemed completely arbitrary. I’m gonna say this one is bugged, or at least the one in Broken Fin Hollow specifically is.
It’s also really hard to tell when multiple orbs come from the same spot back to back.
Just did it first try… only here cuz google result for ‘arcane pylon wow’.
It’s just a rhythm game. Reminds me a lot of “One Finger Death Punch” and “Kickbeat”.
You have to zap the wisp looking things before they reach the circle, if you push the button too soon you lose a charge of barrier, push it too late and they hit the barrier… same result. Pushing a button when there’s nothing to zap or it’s too far away to zap is the fastest way to fail.
Figured it out after a few tries. My problem is that it seems to be impossible if you don’t have the reflexes of a 17 year old speed freak. If I wanted to have my face rubbed in the fact that I’m not a spring chicken anymore, I’d go play some twitch game like Fortnite.
Doing this with a high latency is impossible.
I’ve been rocking 500 ms since patch day.
Yeah this is super broken, even with latency below 50, it often doesn’t cast despite making the correct sound, sometimes it shoots an orb and the orb just keep going, there is a serious latency problem going on somewhere
76 latency here and the game is still busted.
You can tap the button right away or wait until the orb is nearly on top of you but the result is the same.
Broken.
The key seems to be to late them get as close as possible, because if multiple attacks come from the same node, you can get them all with one blast. This saves you some energy. Also, if you fire too early, you’ll miss, which will cost you energy.
Impossible with people with high latency.
Im at 170ms and I can’t do it, they have to do something about it is part of a meta!
Broken as /10
i was able to complete it after several tries you need to let them get in close without hitting the barrier. The left side I let get super close before striking and the right side is your judgment hope this helps.
Well I just tried it myself at around 250ms and had no issues at all. I think I maybe missed one orb. I think something else has to be going on here.
I eventually got this but people are right…its buggy and janky as F, often the buttons dont respond, it glitches out constantly too where you start with an empty bar if this happens don’t even bother because even if you get every single one it won’t count as a success…people are right WHEN it does work slowing down helps waiting until they are closer but…I have 66 ms and it still bugged out numerous times before it finally worked.
Hahaha it’s incredibly not broken at all, once I read this post and realized mistakes hurt you in this mini-game, I got it in one. Soooo keep trying guys, don’t assume it’s broken just because the answer isn’t immediately apparent, isn’t that what the majority of us have been asking for from the game devs? And 8.2 has been an awesome example of that IMO
incredibly is broken. multiple times tried it and watched at least half the button presses simply not register and cause the pylon to fire. latency only 51, so that’s not an issue. try later when they can make button presses actually = pylon firing.
what do you get for completing this
This is not broken at all. I thought so at first, but after realizing how it is supposed to be played, it is fun and challenging.
First off, do not try to hit a direction right when you see the red flash of the energy ball that is coming. Wait for it to appear and start moving. Once you get into a rythm of when to shoot it down, the rest of it is just timing.
