To each their own as the saying goes. I do like the visual effects of arcane, but I was never great at the additional mana management.
Personally I find dropping multiple grand piano sized chunks of ice on mobs’ heads to be much more satisfying. But that’s just, like, my opinion, man. 
Arcane has to write a 500 essay before you pull a boss, then proceed to verbally express that essay as the fight begins.
Then you can spam arcane blast and barage.
All flavors of mage are looking really good this patch, at least for PvE. No clue about PvP.
That said I’m frost 95% of the time, the other 5% is sanguine week.
All you need is to cast Arcane Orb twice on pull so you get 4 charges. Then, Arcane Blast away.
Never know what will happen with an Arcane mage ,they are very spontaneous .
