Imagine going to go get your DMF buff only to be oneshoted the second you have the buff on you By a mage hidding in the bush with their stupid one shot that consume all their mana. great time to be alive. can we erase that spell already its used for nothing but griefing and has no counter play. I would be lying if I didnt say my blood is boilling right now for having to wait 8h to get DMF again because of a mage with no life.
Sounds like pvp happened on a pvp server.
That does suck. As a suggestion, next time scope it out better. Use the Spy addon to make sure you see all the ally around. Since it was a mage, you can’t use the stealth excuse. So this was preventable if you paid better attention to your surroundings.
Not even hiding in a bush. They can also do it by just not flagging for pvp until the instant they decide to kill you. Or, if they have mage friends, they and two of their fellow mages can all sit dead close by in ghost form so that when you get the buff all three rezz and Arcane Surge at half mana at the same time.
Arcane Surge is a bad ability. Zero counterplay. Definitely not something that should be in SoD in its current form.
Can’t exactly do this if they’re not flagged for pvp or in ghost form waiting for the right moment to strike.
Yea its unreal and it has no real use in Pve or real PVP its just enjoyed by griefers that have otherwise no skill at PvP.
Can’t exactly do what? I didn’t say you had to kill the mage. Just pay attention to the fact he is there and very well can and will flag himself when the opportunity arises. Expect the worst. Why am I having to say this to people on a PVP server?
You mentioned OP should use the Spy Addon to check his surroundings. But you can’t track unflagged players or dead bodies with Spy.
Not to mention DMF is a warzone these days. There are hundreds of skeletons and dozens of bodies on the NPC at any given time. Is OP supposed to just eyeball every single one of the corpses near the NPC and try to figure out which ones are offline and which ones are there in ghost form lying in wait to ressurrect and one-shot him in a fraction of a second?
I don’t mind PvP on a PvP server. Spent some time killing Horde out in Elwynn at the DMF just last night in fact.
But Arcane Surge is bad game design. Any one shot ability that allows for absolutely zero counterplay has no place in WoW.
I agree. In WSG a single mage can solo kill a FC and return the flag, even with a full group defending the FC. Arcane surge needs to be reworked
And of course, bliz decides to change living flame instead. Do they even play this game?
Dont worry, Blizzard nerfed, Fire Mage instead of Arcane.
Thats like them nerfing Resto Shamans instead of Enh.
Now that living flame has been nerfed hard guess what you are going to be seeing A LOT more of. Arcane Surge is now on every mage lmao. Blizzard balancing is the ultimate clown show.
Nova world buffs with options checked for buff desired
Queue BG (have a friend or do it yourself and take summon)
Equip gnomish cloaking device/nifty stopwatch and greater insignia of the horde
Use speed potion/invisibility potion in conjunction with trinket
Right click NPC. Have cursor over enter battleground. Upon seeing buff hit accept
/AFK out and boon DMF
This will get you DMF way more reliably. Yes having to do this is dumb. That’s a design choice that was made for classic. They chose to make it have wbs still. Personally I hate them and think they took the place of content in people’s eyes by having to go get them. They’re a poor excuse for content that blizzard leaned into for SOD. Go figure.
Sometimes things happen where there is no counterplay. You just gotta deal with it. The great news is that greater arcane protection pots come out next phase.
Can we just make DMF a sanctuary area if we arent going to lower the CD on how often you can pick up the buff?
You have to que for BG or answer Sayge’s 2nd question right before your hearth goes off. Alliance are sweaty mcsweaterson over there.
DMF buff should be disabled for raids. There, fixed a lot of issues at once.
Mages sit at the spot as a ghost, and instantly resurrect when someone gets the buff to arcane surge them. There is no amount of preparation or avoidance that can be done to dodge it.
This is no different than parking 8 wind serpents at the sayge on aggressive. It’s a 10% buff. Some things aren’t worth the hassle lol.
Oh no the consequences of your actions and where you rolled.
Imagine you were at war, would you let your enemy get all buffed up and ready or would you sneak attack them? Hmm?
