Does anyone enjoy the complexity (annoyance as I call it) of the rotation?
I want to play it because it’s the best spec currently, but my lord the rotation / priority is just absolutely obtrusive.

I actually think the rotation is pretty straight forward compared to what it used to be.
The only convoluted thing about arcane right now is Spellslinger’s barrage conditons, especially with High Voltage.
Outside of that, and as Sunfury Arcane is a very straightforward spec with minimal buttons (aside from Evo being bloat).
I really hate what Arcane has become. there may have been hate for the wrath rotation, but i miss it. Arcane should be really awesome, were dealing with raw arcane power right, but instead it’s another builder spender rotation with minor quirks. It doesn’t FEEL powerful even if it might be the current flavor of the month. We really need that glyph for arcane blast, a beam animation would be huge. I also miss nether tempest, be really cool if we could ground target an area apply nether tempest to like 4 targets at once.
I honestly feel that Arcane is at a very, very good spot right now (not even talking about the damage itself). I’ve played WoW since WoLK, and Arcane early days was horrible to play… it was a “turret” - if you need to move due to a boss mechanic, all the dps was gone… remember not being able to move while casting arcane missiles? Having to stay put on top of your Rune of Power? Relying on the “old” Alter Time (before Blizz changed it)?
Arcane IS a complex spec to play (maybe not as much as Fire, but still on the higher-end of the difficulty spectrum), and people (like myself) enjoy it. God forbid Arcane becomes another 1-button spec like BM Hunters, or a 3-button spec like Ret Pally. Complexity (not clunkiness) brings a skill-challenge, which is fun.
If you don’t like Arcane, but still wants to play a Mage, I suggest moving to Frost. 11.2 Frost rotation uses 3 buttons… and will top the meters by doing it!
The Arcane rotation is fine, I would even say in a good place (particularly for Sunfury), it’s the talent tree that continues to be a hot mess. The entire right side is virtually dead and all the capstone talents with the exception of Orb Barrage feel extremely underwhelming. They also totally killed Arcane Explosion but left all of its infrastructure in the talent tree, essentially wasted a bunch of nodes.
Of course this isn’t limited to Arcane or even Mages, it’s an across-the-board problem caused by the fallout of the transition from tiers to trees. 2 expansions since and we’re still dealing with it. In fact I can’t think of any talent trees that are in good shape (particularly on the caster side), maybe Destruction and Devastation, but that’s it. Sadly, I don’t expect things to change much, not even in Midnight since the entire World Soul “saga” is basically one expansion artificially chopped up into 3 pieces so that they can sell it to us multiple times while also giving themselves x3 the development time…
I really enjoy it. It can be frustrating in fights with heavy movement, but I like having a lot to do. I’m not fussy with playing perfectly and topping meters though. I’d rather have more buttons to push than too few. I don’t feel it’s too many though. I wouldn’t want them to simplify it. There are other specs to play for simpler.
The rotation isn’t that complex, especially compared to how it was last expansion. I would say it’s actually a fairly simple spec now. It’s not meant to be a dead simple spec like ret.
I for one, actually miss when it was Dragonflight levels of complicated. I like that.
The right side down to leydrinker is going to be taken for sunfury now I think and both H specs will
Be on even footing in mythic plus from what I’ve seen so at least it won’t be completely dead anymore.
What are you basing that on, the Wowhead guide? That build is bonkers, lol.
That and my own personal sims and testing using the SS build I was using and then using the SF build I’m using now.
