New toggled aura/stance:
Attempts to consume 1 Arcane Charge every 1.5 seconds, restoring a small amount of mana.
What is the goal you have in mind?
Building arcane charges decreases mana efficiency and increases damage. ABa is practically free and as much damage as a 4x AB. A 4x ABa is your reward for building to 4, if you’re conserving.
Consuming charges would cause us to cast weak ABs but never get a juicy ABa for our effort.
Or it could just be quite strong for a burn phase, ever-fluctuating between 3x and 4x ABs while regenerating mana.
I’m not sure what the goal is of adding that aura.
The goal of this Aura is to provide us with an alternate but punishing option for regening mana.
Arcane relies heavily on planning out the whole fight before hand in regards to when you are really going to burn.
However, especially in pug groups, this can be difficult. Having a phase push just a little too late or too early can have a significant impact on our dps.
Having a little more control over our mana regen could provide us a tad more leeway in this regard. It is for this same reason that I think we need a very inefficient but VERY rapid mana burn ability as well. (Arcane Obliteration - #3 by Magias-stormrage)
It would also help us out in situations where we need to spam Arcane Explosion.
Also, the more abilities mixing things up the more fun Arcane will be and the more creative uses of abilities people will be able to figure out. Arcane is just flat-out lacking in abilities right now.
Honestly, the last thing on earth arcane needs right now is to make the spec more punishing.
Very few if any arcane mages or mages in general would argue that arcane doesn’t need more abilities; but making the spec even more of a pain to manage isn’t the answer. The easy fix, at least for aoe, is to make Orb baseline, something they steadfastly refuse to do for whatever reason(s).
We are really an anomaly at this point and I’m starting to think it’s less that they don’t care about us and more they have no idea what to do with us.

They don’t want specs stacking cds, yet that’s the core of arcane’s gameplay and all of our major talents do just that.

They want azerite traits to change gameplay; none of ours do that, they just buff whatever we’re already doing (equipoise, explosive echo, arcane pressure). Only the missile-focused pvp build with amplification and empowerment that stacks pummeling traits changes what we do in any fashion.

They say they’re ok with certain specs not being able to do it all (we’re the poster child for that) yet really very few other specs are so one-dimensional. Even affliction warlocks with their poor aoe and mythic+ performance are still good at both ST, 2-3 target cleave and spread cleave. Pretty much every other class/spec I can think of off the top of my head has at least 2 things they can do reasonably well.

We’re the only dps class left that gives a hoot about mana yet the mini game is crucial to the spec. One major mistake or a couple small ones and you’re done on a boss.
There are things they can do for quick-fixes but for the long-term health of arcane, it’s going to need a complete re-do.
