Arcane - Change the damage not the playstyle

Hi Blizzard,

Arcane is arguably in the best place it has been for years as an approachable spec to play. Prior to TWW, many mages (like myself) were apprehensive to play Arcane due to complex nature of the spec. I am asking you to consider the feedback provided by the other mages and myself in reverting the burden of power double dip and instead consider just adjusting the damage done.

The changes as currently set will totally change the Arcane playstyle which is devastating given we are almost two weeks into the new expansion. Many people (such as myself) have committed to Arcane based on the playstyle that has existed since beta and to change it in the 11th hour puts a lot of people in an awkward position.

Thank you for your consideration.

In what way exactly?

On the contrary, wouldn’t it be better for those changes to happen now instead of later on when players would have become more set into the old rotation and developed the muscle memory for it?

Committed what exactly? The several hours it’s taken you to level an Arcane mage from 70 to 80? We don’t even have M0 gear yet! This is all such an overreaction.

It’s not going to happen. They’re cracking down on abusing the spell queuing system for double dipping across the board because they don’t consider it a legitimate use of that mechanic and they’ve made that abundantly clear throughout the Beta, in spite of the outcry. The one time they reverted themselves with Spellslinger they clearly stated it would only be temporary while they worked on a more permanent fix.

P.S. Posting on a level 60 character with boosted gear (that isn’t even a mage) and parroting the same half a dozen or so threads on this topic really makes it seem like it’s the same person using alts in an attempt to gain traction. Let’s see this Arcane mage you’ve committed to maining in TWW.

Multiple predictions either you still double dip w/ just NP so now the rotation is just more boring to play instead of having the satisfying BoP NP double dip you just hold for NP. Choice 2 you ignore it entirely… Which sucks. Choice 3 you have to line up your GI w/ ToTM which is going to be super awkward and unfun to do as you try to line up something that happens X amount of casts w/ a CD. Choice 4 we may need to start watching to not overcap on harmony or dropping tempo…

All choices are strictly inferior. Choice 1 just takes out a fun element but keeps double dipping, Choice 2 we just turn to AB blast and might as well not have a hero talent, choice 3 and 4 arcane is just more complicated w/ an awful playstyle.

And here is Blizzard making a change like this without them even knowing what the resulting rotation will be since we don’t have the sims. That’s the most insane part of all this Blizzard is making this change blindly and THEY DON’T KNOW THE EFFECTS. This is why we do changes like this during beta not now.

Previous point answered why this is bad. First a lot of player are locked into the class whether they are committed to a guild, invested gold, or don’t have a lot of time to play and they now have to reset from scratch playing a class they potentially won’t like. And second we still don’t know the rotation till the sims are out which will take a while, and we don’t know what the new rotation will be people may just not want to play mage anymore. As pointed out this could make a more complex rotation with lining up #casts with a CD which Blizzard may want to change meaning we could potentially see multiple weeks of gameplay changes till we get into a good spot again or be stuck w/ a rotation people hate.

Some of us play in a guild which needs a raid buff… I’ll play mage no matter what, but other people may not have wanted to be locked into mage for the season, but are stuck now playing a class they may not like just to fulfill a raid buff requirement.

You realize that spell queuing is a mechanic baked into fire mage as well… And still exists in sunfury regardless of this change w/ NP, and has been a mechanic arcane mage used in the past… Regardless if they wanted to change it or not changing it now is unacceptable changes should have been done in the beta when there was time for feedback. Now we have to wait for sims, learn the new rotation, test the new rotation, and then be able to provide feedback since Blizzard once again has NO IDEA THE REPRECUSSIONS OF THIS CHANGE TO THE ROTATION.
