For the second straight day I have been kicked from an Island Expedition group while I was doing absolutely nothing wrong. In fact both times I was carrying the group, doing way more damage and collecting more Azerite than the two of them combined. I can only assume that I was playing some way than was different than what they wanted to do (farming rares maybe?) Ok so I put em on ignore and moved on…but if you continue to allow people to kick other people from groups arbitrarily without any recourse or appeal I will find another game to play. As it is, I am done with Island Expeditions. Fewer and fewer reasons to play this game every day.
My wild guess is that since Blizzard officially replied the other day explaining how rewards in Expeditions work and how they’re changing next Tuesday, people are trying really hard to jump on the (presumed) higher chances for rare drops by prioritizing waiting and killing invasions instead of just blitzing the timer.
Despite you “carrying” and going super fast, if they were trying to plead with you to wait for an invasion and you /ignored both of them, are you really surprised you were kicked? That’s pretty antisocial of you.
That said, I’d just take a break this week from Expeditions if I were you, if you’re more into the blitz style. Come next Tuesday, that’ll be the preferred way for all players, whether they want rares or wins.
This same thing has happened to me a couple of times. I have no idea how to fix it.
This is a Blizzard created issue, not a player created issue. If you are tired of getting kicked then you need to either stop doing them or find at least 1 other person to do them with so you don’t get kicked.
Don’t be mad at players for wanting certain drops when Blizzard designed it to work this way.
in 8.1 theyre apparently making changes to fix this, but i highly doubt it will stop the idiots who kick near the end of islands in an attempt to steal the third persons’ loot.
in 8.1 drops will be fully based on the theme of the island, and it won’t matter which mobs are killed.
I will never understand people who don’t make it clear what they are after, then kick or get mad when people don’t read their mind and do exactly what they want, those people should be queuing as trio instead of wasting other peoples’ time.
I kick people who “carry” all the time. Usually their definition of carrying is speeding ahead of the group soloing the dungeon before everyone else can even catch up. That’s not fun. I play to have fun, not to get loot as fast as possible.
Make it so there is a 10% chance the person who voted to kick will also be kicked themselves.
This way if your gonna kick you make sure you really mean it.
Just find at least one other person who wants to do islands the way you want, then you don’t have to worry about being kicked as you control the vote. When I am soloing them I always check to see what the other two want to do. There is no point in me trying to win quickly if the other just want to farm, in the end they are more than likely just going to kick you to prolong the match.
The incentives are messed up in IE’s; that’s why you were kicked. It wasn’t arbitrary.
Winning quickly is actually counter to what some players want. They aren’t there to win, they’re there to kill certain mobs so they get changes at certain drops. So your carrying of the group is the antithesis of what they wanted.
Fortunately, they just announced recently that they’ll be changing it so that people can focus on finishing the objective rather than hunting for certain mobs.
My advice is just be social in on islands, say hi just so they know you are there and listening to them. I agree with the other guy, maybe they were trying to communicate but you were ignoring them.
/kick
Then
Do
/silly
I was kicked for doing nothing wrong too , I just don’t dwell on these thing for a GAME
Blizzard should have explained how these work right at the start. I only learned recently that there was other stuff out there to collect and a sequence to the events. Up to a couple weeks ago, I thought it was collect AP as fast as you can to beat the other side, and repeat until the weekly quest was done.
With out a vote to kick, players can just as much troll a group with out repercussions as well, so it’s very much a social issue that has no real answer. This may change as island expeditions changes get applied next week, and as how to collect the toys, pets and mounts in expeditions with that information being clarified to the public.
They probably didn’t want you to “carry” them as you can lose and get the same chances at the loot they were after.
That’s the bad part, there is little to no communication on anything anymore. A solid 2 minutes out of their day to explain something like this would have solved a lot of hassle.
“Absolutely nothing wrong” is a highly subjective and opinionated concept.
If they were farming rates, you were in fact ruining their goal.
Youre not perfect, maybe try to communicate.
There is an island expeditions section in the group creation tool I noticed. I think it could be good both ways- if you’re just there to get a few done for the weekly then you could post a group ad for that and everyone is on the same page when you queue, or if you want to do them to farm something specific then you can advertise for that instead.
People can still troll and kick, but I think it’s less likely if you get a group ahead of time and it’s no worse than normal and heroic dungeons.
Difference’s in priority for rewards from islands are a problem. If they did not say anything to indicate why they might be unhappy then you dan’t know.
Also there are a notable percentage of players the believe they somehow increase their own loot rewards by removing others. I’m…99% sure that is not true.
The question I have here, and this is a generalized one, is this: Why does it matter?
Just move on. It’s a video game and you got randomly assigned a group with two people who wanted to do the IE in a different way than you did. They booted you because no compromise was made. Oh well. Welcome to real life. People are going to be jerks.
And why come to the forums to complain? It’s not going to change anything. If you have something legitimate like a pattern of people getting an Island Expedition up to like 90% or higher and suddenly being kicked for no reason, then maybe that is something the Blizz can look into. We’ve seen the LFD tool abused this way with people getting kicked on the last boss for no reason.
(Note: I’m not reading the OP the house down specifically, but rather this notion of dwelling on how wronged people were in a flippin’ video game)
