Arathi use Kul Tiran models in The War Within—does this confirm other non-Kul Tiran humans share their build?

If you think about it, it does make sense given the game’s lore that humans would be capable of being bigger-than-orc monstrosities. They’re fleshcursed Vrykul, after all. . . it’s within the standard types of fantasy tropes that WoW likes to use for some of them to just be closer to the originals through quirks of genetics. That tends to be how I play my Kul Tirans (none of whom are actually from Kul Tiras in-character). They’re just a bit of a throwback for some reason, it doesn’t really need more of a handwave than that.

They did still use those models for NPC’s. Such as certain Defias mobs in Vanilla Deadmines or the group of farmers that give you quests in Borean Tundra.

Makes me wonder why they haven’t updated them with the playable Kul Tiran models for Gerald and Wendy, with Jeremiah having the skinny human model. The one that uses the female undead skeleton.

The reason for me is that they are on a different flile, just like for example you have a lot of tbc demons that were not updated with Legion.

When they do an update for a model, they simply replace the existing id files of the models.

To modify these old humans variants would be to take them specifically and replace their id with the new models.

All Humans are descendants of Vrykrul, so no mingling needed.

I imagine that every so often, those recessive Vrykul genes become active and thats how we get bigger than average humans.

Might’ve happened recently. :straight_ruler::robot:

That’s what I’m saying. I’m kind of confused about the posts acting like they’re just a bit tall or fat.

Because we have humans who have no lore excuse to be that tall, also being that tall, with the Arathi. So clearly humans can just occasionally be tall but in universe and it’s not exclusive to KTs lorewise, at best it’s a bit more common like how people from the Netherlands tend to be taller.

I think, they are this big to make them stand out more as an allied race.

Even if the lore purpose was just to make them “taller buklier humans” i think they made them way bigger and taller to make them more different from the other humans.

I guess my point is I don’t think all or even necessarily most KTs look like this, and as we’ve seen proven by the Arathi other humans from other kingdoms can look like this as well.

well, kul’tiran are just fat humans, which makes them one of the worst allied races in the game, since they’re basically the same thing as the base race.
trolls for example, distinguish one from another by the loas they worship, this changes them.

Well yes, you just have to go around Kul Tiras and you will see that most use the regular human model not the bulky one.

And yes having the Arathi using it confirm that its just a “body shape”

Isnt it more the environnement they live in which change them? Meaning forest/jungle/sang/ice trolls?

It’s a bit of both. Trolls do and are known to adapt to the environments they live in. And their loa do sometimes give blessings that change them even further

Fair point, actually. Height in WoW definitely gets crazy sometimes, even outside of obvious gameplay reasons.

Like all those poor major NPCs who need to carry a second set of clothing for when they enter a raid instance and suddenly double in height.

I wonder if Tirion Fordring in ICC ever got vertigo from suddenly being 20ft tall?

You might find it funny, but in my opinion, this change of size is a thing they do since war3; if you recall in war3 : the stronger the enemies were the bigger

Yeah, and the size was also a gameplay feature in WoW because the larger size let the player click the NPC even if other tall players were crowded around them. Now we have the “can phase through other players to interact with important NPCs” as a replacement, but the size increase does still make the important NPCs stand out on screen. Giant NPCs has its functional uses.

I’m still going to laugh at it!

I actually forgot about this. Memes aside I’m pretty sure Varian’s canon height is taller/as tall as a KT, and he’s full blooded Stormwindian.

What i always like to do, is let Lady Vashj get as many buffs from the water elementals as possible, she grows bigger each time she get buffed, at some point she is a GOD!

Then when she die, she get all tiny…
