Arathi Empire & Yrel

I have a sneaking feeling that “time traveling” Yrel is involved with the Arathi Empire. While the Arathi we have encountered maybe ok with us because they were in desperate need for help. The Arathi Empire seems like they want to push their zealot light wielding ideas on others. Yrel most likely did a time jump into our past in order to start building her light army.

I think Yrel is a dead plot thread.

They seem pretty chill about their faith.

Only here, because they have to be. There are several quests that mention that their emperor and their homeland is much much less kind than they are here.

No more Yrel, please…

Hmmm. While both are similar, they would be different.
Yrel and her lot basically are pretty straight forward by saying Convert or be purged, no in between, as well, Yrel sees beneficial uses for those who cannot use the light. All of Yrel’s peeps are open and up front and due to the legion, really dislike sneaky traits and habits.

Arathi Flame empire folk have openly claimed Subjugation through Light and Flame, and actively want only those who can wield the light, and those who cannot use it will be killed and raised as those light bound undead fodder. Arathi Flame peeps hinted at having hidden zealots waiting to strike, pretty much Scarlet Crusade on expired roids.

I don’t think so.
It is possible that the Light might bring Yrel and the Lightbound to convert Azeroth by force eventually, but I don’t think she is involved with the Empire, I think they are just Light fanatics on steroids after having followed the call of the Radiant Song, the prophecies the Emperor receives as well as having lived in isolation for thousands of years.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the zealotry within the arathi empire is the result of being led astray by the void (much like the scarlet crusade was led astray by dreadlords)

You remember how we literally killed the group who was like this and the rest of them were surprised about what they were doing?

The Arathi are a pretty nuanced portrayal of a light-worshiping society. You have a more secular army under General Steelstrike, then you have the Lamp-Lighters, who are a fully religious order. They are still valiant and benevolent.

Then you have the loonies up in the priory.

One thing that keeps making me wonder - is it ever confirmed that MU Yrel is dead? What if AU Yrel was still the Yrel we quested with and the lightcrazed one turned out to be MU Yrel

(before someone tells me it’s in alliance quests for WoD, I completely tuned out WoD questing on both sides so I only remember broad lines)

The expedition is, because they’ve been stuck in a cave for like 20 years. The Arathi Empire is stated to be unaccepting of infidels by Faerin.

I will like Yrel coming on Azeroth and the Arathi empire become a part of her army but not the Arathi from Hallowfall because they see the things differently now.

You clearly aren’t paying attention if you think that. it’s mentioned and demonstrated many times that they’re incredibly intolerant.

Do we know where it is? Like, are there tunnels we havent explored?

I don’t think they are involved with Yrel. They developed their zealotry all on their own. I imagine that the Arathi Empire as a whole is pretty xenophobic and will use the Light in some sort of inquisition on the way to becoming a future enemy.

Or Blizzard will just ignore them after TWW.

Across the storming sea… The Arathi we encounter were on their way East to engage in Holy War when they were transported to Hallowfall.

I don’t think Blizz would have the brass to do a Holy War themed expansion but man would that rock if they did. Zealots can be so much fun to RP, too bad too many people take fiction seriously.

Oh cool. Thats a fun setup.
