What do you think? And what classes should they be able to master? I would think Druid for sure, but what else? Which faction should they align with in the game? What do you think of this race becoming playable?
Here are my own thoughts.
Faction: Alliance
Classes: Druid, Shaman, Mage, Warlock
Racial: Glide
Starting Area: Skettis (Terrokar Forest)

I would love it to happen. I don’t think it ever will just because the amount of work it would take to make the existing equipment work with the feathers.

Then again, maybe they’d ignore the wings/feathers for gear. But I do see a LOT of work needed to reduce clipping.

Such gnarly and gorgeous birbs. I wouldn’t care one bit about clipping. Non-issue anyway since clipping already exists on some playable races like worgen and Tauren heads. The uncursed koas’ two legged upright model is practically the industry standard. Retrofitting gear to them wouldn’t be such a hassle. The biggest thing is the uniqueness they would bring. How many games have done full on playable birbs? The answer is almost none. Blizz passed up a big opportunity in WoD to do this. They still can. Order of the Awakened is a perfect way to bring on the birbs.

I imagine it would be something like what they did for Worgen

As long as we get these, the high arakkoa, I’m totally down. That would be a sick race to have.

Looking at these again, I think they’re already using the Worgen skeleton and model with feathers and a bird head. So maybe it’ll be less work than I initially thought.
I thought the uncorrupted Arrakoa from WoD were amazing. Spires of Arak was a great leveling zone.

They’ll have to pull them from WoD though, since none of those Arakkoa remain in Outland.
Aren’t there some in Shattrath City?
Those aren’t cursed ones? Maybe they look like that because the model didn’t exist back then

I think with a phased zone update they could pull it off
Anyway they could add some sort of island south of Terokkar which could be the ruins of Skyreach or something

If not an au draenor scenario, then that lost part of mu Outland could always come drifting back from the twisting nether right?
I’d be down. I dont know if alliance would be a better fit for them than horde, but i could see it going either way. Would be nice to have an avian option regardless. Same for sethrak as a reptilian option, but that is a topic for a different forum.
Ca-caw! For the alliance!
Seeing as this post isn’t dead yet, I would have a few ideas about playable classes and racials.
Racial: Sort of like the DH glide, with the double jump as well. 1% Resistant to light, a bonus in Tinkerer (Due to their affinity with the spires and making those buffing bots). Can fly without a mount.
Classes should have anything related to light, so Paladin and Priest. Warrior, Rogue, Shaman could be argued because of the use of wind magic, Mage for the Fire magic. DK because everyone is a DK now. Some may argue that it’s too many classes, but look at both Dwarves and Dark Iron, they can be all but 2 classes.
If they would ever introduce another neutral race, I think this race could benefit from it. Arakkoa would be such a fun race to play and their allegiance could be justified from Draenor much like the Mag’Har orcs.

nothing that can bring something positive to the game is really dead.

I’m here just to rebump this thread because I would race change in a heartbeat if arrakoa were ever introduced into the game. Neutral race, give it a dh glide jump animation and worgen base animations and boom, good to go
