I’m running old content to try to complete my collection now that you can collect other gear types as well. I used to run Viscidus back in the day for the pet so I already had the strat and equipment down; get him frozen, use my crate of puppies and dynasty of steel to help me get the required number of hits in, and bam - dead. Only when I ran him today, even using my trinkets he didn’t die once frozen. I thought maybe I messed it up somehow so I went and brushed up on him and yeah, that’s how he should die. Waited the stupid hour for the trinkets to come off cd and went and fought him again - still wouldn’t die. Does anyone know if they changed his mechanic or something?
I think the main change is that those trinket-apawned mobs don’t attack Viscidus, or their attacks don’t count. (WowHead comment hint that the spawned mobs are too low-level and miss Viscidus.)
In other words, you have to come up with your own rapid physical attacks, which is quite inconvenient for classes which don’t do that.
Yeah, I ended up dualboxing with my rogue and using his slice and dice Viscidus went down pretty quickly. I’d just rather not have to dualbox him each and every week, it’s so much easier only going on one toon. You would think trinkets from MoP would be more than enough for a boss from Classic, if they’re really missing their attacks that’s pretty stupid
Scaling is so wrong and unpredictable that it’s not safe to make reasonable assumptions anymore.
I’m glad you found a way, although it seems like a damn nuisance. Since transmog is now mostly class-unlocked, I just run this encounter on whatever class alt is easier.
If you go prot or holy and use drums for 15% haste, you should be able to get through it (assuming you have a 1H + shield). Any one-hander will work.
