April Fools Patch Notes

Mage

Yep. They didn’t even TRY to hide the trolling this year.

If I wasn’t dead inside I’d be offended or insulted … and if I hadn’t come to expect nothing but the worst from the current development team, I’d have been surprised to read it.

I don’t even get half of the pop culture references in the notes for the other classes but the very fact that they put that much “effort” in making them just speaks volumes about their level of neglect and apathy towards mages. This just feels insulting. Like a purposeful in-your-face kinda insult. I am not amused. :unamused:

Yeah I thought that to: they couldn’t even come up with anything whimsical or funny and just went straight to trolling and lol’s. I’m sure anyone who DOESN’T play a mage thinks the post was funny. Me, not so much.

Devs are probably laughing about it. Lord knows there isn’t a dev playing a mage that coulda said “Hey, wait a minute …”

I think it’s their acknowledgment that they know everyone hates Fire mage and that Frost/Arcane might as well not exist, but they don’t know what to do with it yet.

Or that mage is still considered the Blizzard favorite. It’s just been the thing people have said, don’t quote me on this

idk I didn’t think too much of it. I did chuckle. Also the person who wrote it probably isn’t responsible for game balance

Yeah… but that in itself feels like an insult.

Well listening to player feedback and actually following through would be a great start. /sigh

Honest question here but…

Do most Mages hate Fire spec? Or is it pretty popular? I love Arcane for some stupid reason but I also hate Fire the most out of the mage specs. Maybe because it’s so fast and playing with any sort of lag just makes me want to through my computer out of a window.

I don’t know–just not a fan. Would much rather play Frost or Arcane.

I think it would be hilarious if everybody just stopped giving feedback on the PTR. Like the forum ended up being a graveyard for old posts.

They don’t seem to listen or post there anyways so I always wondered why people wasted their time anyways.

There’s one of those people??? :joy:

The fact that certain specs still languish leagues behind others and that boomkin (among others) hasn’t been touched tells me this is more a reality than a joke.

It does feel like more of a face slap than a knee slap.

I’m just tired, at this point.

Well mage is one of the class that is very rarely outside of the meta so saying that blizzard don’t care about mage is just a plain lie.

They surely do not work to make every spec good but this is true of every dps spec. They rarely work to make more then 1 dps spec viable per class. Dam, they can’t even give every class 1 good spec DPS spec so asking to have multiple meta spec viable as a mage is eutopia

Personally I don’t know very many mages that enjoy playing Fire. They love the results but not the play style. Also it’s been the only meta/viable mage spec for years on end now and people are just… burned out. Ba dum tsss! :drum::joy:

But it’s not “mage” tho, it’s always FIRE. Why can’t we have one expansion when Frost or Arcane are the meta mage spec? It’s been like 5 years in a row of nothing but Fire.

Also I call bs on the argument that one spec being viable per class should be the status quo. They have plenty of resources to make ALL specs viable but they choose not to invest the time and effort because it’s much more profitable to put out a shell of a game while charging the same for it. What we got in BfA and now SL is half the game we got in Legion, in all respects (expansion specific systems, class balance, story, content, etc).

And frankly I am not the only one who feels that way because about half of players who came back to WoW at the start of SL have since left (subscriptions have gone down well over 40%). Blizzard can keep ignoring this, and I have no doubt they will, but eventually it will catch up with them because they’re running their game into the ground.

Frost was better then fire at the end of BFA and Frost was the PvP spec for more years then fire.

But I can understand that fire been king of the hill most of the time for the past few years still, saying that blizzard don’t care about mages is an over statement.

They just seems to have a short crew for balance now and most dps class suffer the same problem as mage. The same spec is king and the same one suck for years.

They just don’t seems to have the resource anymore to shift meta.

Frost was in a decent spot and could compete with Fire when using that gimmicky frozen orb build but it was never better and couldn’t even come close when they allowed Fire to become overloaded with the mastery corruptions at the very end of BfA. If you mean after the SL pre patch well that wasn’t exactly BfA anymore and that lasted all of a month when no one was playing let alone pushing relevant content anymore.

I actually agree 100% with this but it isn’t that they physically lack the resources. They have plenty of money to hire top talent from across the industry to solve all of these problems, they just choose not to and therein lies the problem.

Maybe if the CEO gave up half of his latest $200,000,000 bonus and invested it back into the company rather than fire hundreds of people every quarter for the past 2 years we wouldn’t be in this mess.

They might not lack the $ but they now lack the resource since they fired half of the team in charge of balance.

I am fully aware its a choice to please the investor in short term, but I fear it will have a detrimental effect on the player base in the long term.

Personaly, I’m just lucky, I main a vengence DH since legion, I play a Resto/Balance druid with my friends and my PvP character of choice is Fire.

I guess that I’ll pay my luck someday.

Oh boo hoo you bunch of babies. I play mage and it’s a joke, get over it.

Really!? This from a Balance druid? Bruh… :man_facepalming:t2:
Why are you even on the forums? What do you have to complain about? Shouldn’t you be out there in SL spamming Starfall?

What has that got to do with anything, honestly?

I could log my mage and call you a cry baby on that if you want. Whatever comforts the widdle cute baby diddums.
