Apprentice Crispin

In Cataclysm’s Tirisfal Glades, there is a leper gnome who works as an assistant to one of the apothecaries. He has a relevant dialogue option, in which he makes the point that the gnome is plagued as well, and that (in a humorous bit about the gnome’s height) he has actually bowed to Sylvanas and swore fealty.

Are there any other examples of other plagued beings joining the Forsaken, even if they are not technically undead? This seemed very unusual and a cool element of world building, and suggested that the Forsaken could become a foster nation for all kinds of mutated, plagued rejects.

That’s what the Forsaken is though. Players may only be able to make ex Lordaeron citizens but the Forsaken consists of Banshees, Abominations, Ghouls and Skeletons, Dark Elves and I think even Nerubians and much more. It has been since Vanilla.

Also Ganoosh is another leper Gnome in Undercity.

There was a tweet by someone relevant and it was in reply to whether Alliance DKs could join the Forsaken, and the answer was yes, Sylvanas would accept them.

You can also find leper gnomes in blood elf pleasure palaces. Those guys know how to get around.

Sylvanas was accepting of pretty much anyone who would swear fealty. That becomes more apparent in BfA, where she even gives the Sanlayn a trial run.

Heck, she was even cool with Talanji not bowing because “A Queen bows to no one - you should understand.”

Sylvanas was like : “You know what? I do understand. We cool.”

She was the Warchief who ranted about “needing fresh blood” and expanding the ranks. She seemed to have the same sort gusto about expanding her ranks when she was just the leader of the Forsaken.

I think Leper Gnomes are the only non-Undead members we’ve seen in person. But it’s always been a sort of presumed factor of the Forsaken. That they’re not just for dead Lordaeronians, but anyone who has been plagued and/or scorned by the world they knew.

The only pre-requisite to joining the Forsaken was proving your loyalty and swearing your fealty. The Forsaken are unique in this way. Their diversity. It’s a real shame it doesn’t get portrayed more often.

There’s oodles of potential there.

Only three Leper Gnomes were known. Even seen some conflict against the alliance.

After the Fourth War, Mathias Shaw in his report implied that Keelen and his succubus no longer ran the leper gnome operation (in Silvermoon).

Funny, the last time I remember a thread with this question about non-undead forsaken was during bfa, right before the patch came out that killed Crispin and Jerrod.
“cool elements of worldbuilding are no longer allowed” as of BFA. If you think something is cool, you can’t talk about it on the forum because it’s sure to get pissed on by the story.

The price of entry being unquestioning loyalty to an individual is not a shining example of diversity.

Sure, but diversity takes many forms. And things can be diverse in one way, yet uniform in another.
I was clearly referring to their diversity of Race/Appearance. Whereas most WoW races are stuck with their core race (Orcs have Orcs, Humans have Humans) Forsaken get an array of Undead with a smattering of non-Undead people.

It’s unique because “Forsaken” doesn’t refer to a race, but a culture/group. An Orc who goes to Stormwind and swears fealty to Anduin doesn’t become a Human.
But an Orc who goes to Undercity (rest in peace) and swears fealty to Sylvanas is Forsaken.

And that’s neat.
