Stupid question incoming:
How does this work? If I appear offline, does that mean friends in retail can see me in classic, or vice versa?

It’s only good for hiding from friends in other games. It’s not really even a real “offline mode”.
They cannot see you online unless you are in the same guild they are or they have your specific character on their friend list.
It only hides you on battle.net not in game.
Pretty much though if you were on classic and all your friends were on retail it could work, soon as one got on classic they’d spot you though.
The worst part about it is that if you’re on the same game everyone on your friend list and btag can see you queue for something, whether it’s LFR/LFD or something in the group finder.
Its not very good. Have had guildies playing incognito then an achievement happens and announces their presence lol. Oh hai there lol.
If you are in offline mode then no one can see you logged in on bnet. If you log into WoW your guild or any friends that have your character specifically added to their friend’s list will see you are on. If you are on classic and they are on retail they cannot see that you are on.
You have no privacy in the game. You want to play the game but don’t want friends and family to see your on? Too bad!! they will see you login in game. Im aware they will see you run past them in game duh or chat in public. Why can’t you hide the login/online? Other games do it just fine. And if they catch you playing while appearing offline oh well it’s should be our risk we take. If they get mad delete them crybaby. Battlenet appear offline is a joke!
