Apparently Zandalari hate slavery

…so why did they enslave the goblins on Kezan?

That was not the Zandalari. Goblins were enslaved by the Forest Trolls.

Wouldn’t be Warcraft’s first hypocritical race.

Different breed of trolls. Don’t worry, like elves, we all just start to look alike after a while.

World of Warcraft Chronicle says otherwise

Lets be fair, the Zandalar Tribe and the Empire helped fight against the Blood God Hakkar, which had mind slaves and pygmy gnomes in its possession.

Those who followed Prophet Zul cared not for their traditions. They sought every means necessary to them to gain power. We saw with the Zandalari ships in Pandaria that they aimed to restore the true Troll Empire. Where they wanted to relive being the best of all races.

“Slavery” hints at someone being taken against their will and being forced into a life they did not have before. That goes against the (new) Zandalari way of thinking! Zandalari are all about the caste system! No slaves, just people born into being low ranking drudge workers! No top tier castes being forced to do work, no no! Just the ones unlucky enough… chosen to be born in the lower castes getting to do what they were destined to do!

squints at Blizz writers

Because the writers drank battery acid and their brains have never been the same since.

I’m sure we’ll find out that was all Titan propaganda.

(i.e. the various writers not communicating ( assuming Blizzard has a long term story outline ))

Is it possible the attitudes have changed since those times? Sometimes people can change their attitude towards something given new information or experience.

I’m sure they’ll just blame it on them being Zul’s group.

The orcs do this with their peons too. And their gladiatorial rings. And last I checked blood elves had gnome slaves working in sweatshops. And the goblins enslave forest trolls. And the mag’har orcs enslaved draenei. And the Forsaken enslaved Gilneans and the humans of Hillsbrad.

Basically what I’m saying is the Horde really likes slavery.

Do unto others what you wouldn’t have done unto you?

This is correct. The Zandalari had nothing to do with that. They outlawed slavery for themselves, and came up with the caste system. Other troll tribes still operated on their own terms though. It’s why cannibalism is also outlawed in Zandalar (and Darkspear) but not other troll tribes.

I knew this thread would somehow become about slavery in our world; It took 11 posts (after the OP’s.)

They hate slavery now, it doesn’t mean past generations were always like that. Cultures evolve.

atleast they are willing to kill each other over a joke. Whole Zul plot was a prank

" Despite this, shortly after the Sundering, and up until they rebelled 100 years before the Dark Portal, they did enslave the goblins. This discrepancy was not addressed."

I hate being ‘that person’ but this isn’t 100% accurate.

They were jungle trolls first of all, and they were part of the Zandalari empire.

The Zandalari, finding themselves on islands that used to be mountain ranges, decided to start checking out other islands. They found Kezan, Kajamite, and tiny things they could make mine it for them… That is the official canon.
