Apparently there’s less than 1 million subscribers?

Someone told me there’s less than 1 million subscribers. Is that true? Because that seems rather low. If I were to guess, I would say there’s at least 5 million subscribers. Are people telling the truth about this “less than 1 million subscribers”? Or are they lying?

Regardless of what someone has told you, it’s common sense to request a source - or research it yourself. Coming to the GD isn’t going to magically make a valid answer appear.

As has been stated, nobody knows except for Blizzard. There is a lot of speculation on how many there are; however, Blizz stopped providing us the number shortly after WoD (IIRC).

Moral of what I’m telling you? Don’t believe everything you’re told.

It was trash for pvp, cause everyone and their grandma (including myself) rerolled human, just to be competitive.

If the numbers are accurate though, that is concerning for sure.

Rumors and speculations. WoW has at least 4-5 mil active subs currently, and was around ten at the start of bfa. They really need to release these numbers so people stop using their own ignorance as a reason to say wow is dying

but it’s CR’s & and around 1950cr. 1971cr (BFA) to 1969/1979cr (WOD).

I just said 1950 cr cause it looks better, an i’d only be missing 50-100 players if that.

i believe less than 1 million if there was more than that i think it wouldnt take 3 hours to forma group in lfg and it wouldnt take 6 years to find people for arena.

look at it this way if there where millions of players i wouldnt be running into the same people every battle ground having the same people applying for my mythic runs every day small community and it shows.

The simplest answer is that they were confused, or heard misinformation somewhere.

My guess is the number is closer to 1 million than 5 million.

Leveling gear on auction no longer sells, even with a 1 gold bid price on gear formerly selling for 100s.

Players in the pet battle forum have been giving away pets, because they no longer sell.

Current mats are now dirt cheap, and often come back to my mailbox even when undercutting by heaps.

I’ve made millions auctioning over the years, and this is the first time since I’ve been playing it’s just not worth posting auctions at all.

I’ve tried giving away satchels from WoD with the heirloom trinket inside, but can never find any new players on the realms I play on to give them to.

This one’s actually a legitimate issue. Auctions are going for so little nowadays. Reagents are selling for the same price they were selling for several expansions ago. Back when 20k was a lot of gold, they were selling for a few hundred gold a piece. Now everyone’s got at least 100k, and the price hasn’t gone up.

I’ve tried fixing my last server’s economy, but even with me buying out every single auction and trying to reset it, people just purposefully destroy the market by undercutting by massive chunks of gold.

Most of the current crowd is either leveling alts, farming xmog, or doing things with people they know or are in guilds with. That’s why it takes so long to get into groups. Plus, mythic plus just isn’t as popular right now. Most people’s mains are either at or close to ilvl cap so they are waiting on 8.2

As stated we don’t get exact numbers anymore. If i had to guess 1 million aeems reasonable. But i would guess subs will keep dropping in this expac. And like it or not.

Model editors are more numerous then people think. I would bet with the bans and threats of late blizz will loose at least half of them.

Dig into the interwebs. See the millions of downloaded model edits. Its not a stretch to imagine blizz will loose subs in the plenty from pissed off players.

Sex does sell afterall.

Let’s assume you were writing a paper, and your argument was “apparently there’s one million subscribers.” In your bibliography, you would need to place a source for this claim, otherwise you run the risk of making an argument about an issue that doesn’t exist.

If, in that bibliography, your source would be listed as “somebody,” it’d probably make for a super weak paper.
