Hello all, been enjoying lock so far, by no means at all a good or cutting edge player, but still have some questions.
I’ve got severe nerve damage in my hands (no feeling) which makes my extra clumsy when playing classes. I’ve been playing only demo the last couple expansions, but thinking about dipping my toes in the affliction and destruction trees.
I do ok on demo, provided I don’t try NP (just can’t seem to get that down, clumsiness kills me). How is the APM and complexity of the other two builds? I know I can look at play guides, but wanted to ask the people who actively play.
Demo should be fine.
Affy is more of a stretch - lots of buttons and annoyances to track.
Destro isn’t terribly hard to play at a base level because button count is low, but some builds like Soulfire add quite a bit more complexity.
I’d keep running with whatever you’re currently doing.
I’d recommend Destro. Even if you were asking vaguely which spec of any class, I’d still say Destro.
It’s the only spec I play where the bind “3” isn’t bound to anything half the time because I simply don’t need it. You press two buttons 80% of the time. But it does so in a way that is visually satisfying. It’s not dull, like BM hunter, which would be the other easy spec.
Feral druid, devastation evoker, destruction warlock. Last I checked, those 3 specs were the fewest APM in the game (in that order) on single target. APM will change once you throw in utility in M+ or multi-target situations, but it shouldn’t be that much more.
I also play with nerve damage in my keyboard hand/arm from an accident years ago. A good MMO mouse helped a lot. Also there is an addon called “ModMod” that lets you rebind Shift, Control and Alt to whatever buttons on your keyboard are easiest for you to reach. It does not effect the button when typing in in game chat channels. So if you switch E to be your new Shift button, you can still use E when typing, for example.
ModMod has not been updated since Legion so it might look out of date but it still works fine for me. It changed WoW for me, because at one point, I considered quitting due to the increase in movement and mechanics in the game.
aff isnt complicated but it is heavily bloated with high APM so i would prolly stick with demo at least until they remove some of the redundant abilities.
Are the two of you really that insecure?
The spec you main isn’t hard. It isn’t a big deal.
For the record I don’t have “3” bound half the time because I use it for CDF, a spell which isn’t worth taking some times. Although destro warlocks sure are causing a scene about the tier set giving Destro a reason to take CDF again. You can’t request 99% of the kit to be funneled into CB amps and then get on the defensive when you’re called a one button spec.
