AOTC and Mechagon Spider mounts

  1. Why be so lazy and reskin a mechagon mount to use as the Jailer reward? AOTC should have their own special mount.
  2. Does anyone else get annoyed that the mechagon spider mounts legs keep flickering around? And do you get even more annoyed that it’s worse with the AOTC mount? It’s like my mount is having a siezure.

This is WoD 2.0 blizz ran out of all content bc of covid and all the harassment stuff.

It also doesnt help they give bobby a 15 million dollar bonus every time his yacht needs a tune up.

Legion came from WoD and was really good but it truly was a one time thing. They pulled every stop to make it good:

  • give players OP artifact weapons (first instance of borrowed power and it was new and cool enough for people to like)

  • story about one of the most important characters and villains in all of WC history

  • 77 day patch cycle meaning you almost literally never ran out of content (7.2 was a little bit of a slump but mage tower and secret mounts being added helped too)

I’m not seeing how it’s possible for their smaller, less experienced team to even deliver something remotely as good as this. Dragonflight might be alright, but WoW is far from saved.

Lols. Nzoth aotc was a reskin of a dragon. Did you complain?

I think that thing looks more like a protoss dragoon than the spider tank from Mechagon.

Either way I like my spider tank better. It has a pleasant face.

What? Mount not unique enough for you to parade around thinking people are impressed?

That’s not the issue with the AoTC mount. The issue is that every race that mounts it sits about 3ft above the seat. Go take a look. Player models float basically out of the mount completely. Looks hilariously stupid. Normally I would buy an AoTC carry for the mount but this time I’m not gonna bother due to how unbelievably stupid that sitting placement is. Larger races basically completely clip through it too. Everything about it screams “dev spent about an hour creating it and called it a day”.

Its face kind of looks like a dragon and a naga were the only ones in the bar at last call and that is the result.

I am fond of him.

I was surprised the AOTC mount doesn’t use holographic model pieces from its parent mount such as the metal bars attaching the arms to the base when it flies or the propeller when it swims.

This has been the way for AOTC mounts for a while:

MOP AoTC Garrosh: reskin of a wolf
WOD AoTC Archimonde: alright this one I’ll give them it was a new model (the moose)
Legion AoTC Argus: reskin of the Rogue class mount
BfA AoTC N’zoth: reskin of a dragon
SL AoTC Jailer: reskin of Mechagon mount

They already had it made for Legion and just used it ahead of its time for the AotC mount.

It’s a reskin of the Solar Spirehawk world boss drop from WoD

AotC has always been a reskin.

Regardless if they used the mount ahead of time in WOD it was not a reskin.

You can say most of the time it has but not always.

I don’t care if it is a reskin. But i dont like the fact it is not a drop of the raid it self. When the mount model is based on the bosses of the raid, it should be a drop.

Previous AOTC mounts:
MOP: A wolf, related to the raid, but not a boss.
WOD: A moose, not related to the raid.
Legion: Arcane bird, not related to the raid.

Everything was fine until here, but then…
BFA: Void Dragon, based on Vexiona boss.
SL: Spider robot, based on Halondrus boss.

They should used other thing for this current AOTC.

Box price plus sub fee: yes, I am tired of reused rigs and reskinned mounts

Blizzard has gone full reskin as of late. Dracthyr, AOTC mount, you name it…its reused assets.

I called Blizzard and they assured me that from now on they will only put in AOTC mounts approved by you personally.

Well tbf I am like 95% sure the grove warden was going to be a store mount but people complained and then blizz moved it to aotc.

News came out October 14, 2015.

Ya the aotc mount is pretty trash.
I dint mind reskins, but they better actually fit the size of the character atleast. It seems like this mount dosent change size based on what race you play so it looks very small and dumb for certain races.

Looks goofy, the idle animations make my eye twitch, and it sounds like a garbage bag full of empty soda cans being shaken.

Needless to say, it’s not my favorite.

I actually kinda like it but only on the ground. Looks awful in the air.

It’s funny because while we know they re-used the Mechagon spider mount rigging for this AOTC mount, I think they actually built the flight animation for the AOTC mount first and then ported that back to the Mechagon mounts. It would explain why the Mechagon mounts’ legs do the weird flickering thing. The flickering thing seems completely intended for the AOTC version but they obviously overlooked it when porting it back over.
