AOE question

What Class does the most AOE - I just love seeing a bunch of targets decline in health with numbers everywhere! Is there a AOE cap in some classes?

MM hunter’s Trick Shots and Outlaw Rogue’s Blade Flurry are completely AoE capped if this is important to you, so I would advise against those.

Thanks! Messing with Unholy and Shadow currently

Shadow has good (and consistent) aoe so that is a good choice. It can be part of the best mythic+ composition currently which is fire mage, augmentation evoker, shadow priest, holy paladin, and guardian druid. The fire mage is meant to do a lot of damage to many targets, getting PI from the shadow priest, blessing of summer from the paladin, ebon might and prescience from the augmentation evoker (who is buffed by the mage’s arcane intellect) and the group makes very big pulls every 2 minutes.

Thanks! Helpful info - so fire mage if I really enjoy seeing big pulls and a lot of numbers?

Yes, and if you care about your number the most, over tank survivability etc, I would go for VDH instead of guardian, the choice of tank doesn’t matter that much as long as they can survive, but demon hunters buff mage’s spell damage.

Shadow has pretty much the worst AoE in the entire game next patch. It’s being carried very hard by talent choices and tier set that it doesn’t have the luxury of using in 10.2. If you check logs from M+ on ptr from top players you see shadow literally fighting with tanks.

Dang that stinks but they have been OP in m+ for a long time so I guess Blizz decided to rotate them down. It was fun while it lasted. Will M+ spriest just keep their old 4 set?

Is your goal burst AoE or sustained AoE? For burst, I find Ret and Dev to be quite bursty on the front end (and both are decent sustain), but if the pack lives for a minute or so, ramp specs like boomkin really start to shine.

Devastation has uncapped AOE in the form of Pyre and it can do an absurd amount during Dragonrage which gets extended even longer in AoE situations.
Affliction has a rather high AoE output with Seed of Corruption+Doom Blossom, on top of the usual DoTs.
Feral, surprisingly, has very high sustained AoE as well.

I mean its a 39 ilvl drop, its untenable. A lot of people seem to have this opinion that it’s fine shadow is doing tank damage because of 10.1.5. Despite that mages are still doing fine and aug is still the best spec in the entire game for all pve content. It’s not balance, it’s petty revenge.

39 ilvl x 4, even if the new set bonus is 0, it’s still a LOT of intellect.

What are spriest going to do just reroll? Imo it is quite dumb that spriest would be worse than aug in M+ considering how ridiculously easy aug is to play well in M+.

I mean I can’t exactly recommend people do that but I also can’t recommend in good conscience people play it either. ST can be fixed with tuning, AoE needs divine intervention.

Dragon Roar is uncapped.

Roll mage. Barrage is capped, but who cares? Most fun 750k dps I’ve done.
